    Clean diet vs. Dirty Diet

Obviously you need to have your calories in check to get lean and or stay lean and you need enough protein and other muscle building nutrients in a high concentration to get enough while keeping calories low. But what if one didn't care about being lean at all and ate like a complete pig and alot of food therefore getting enough protein ect? Do you guys think the clean diet person would gain strength/ muscle faster then the junk eater? Thanks.

It dont matter what your goal. Wheather you are tring to get lean or bulk up you have to eat clean. Whats the point of eating like a pig if you are not eating the right type of food.

The reason i ask the question is i have been eating like a complete pig and i'm cleaning my diet up super strict to get to my body fat goals and I'm just curious if i will get better strength gains then before because i was gaining very well on a standard American diet but a ton of it. Either way i'm going strict on my diet just something that crossed my mind

some of the people who compete in plifting and strong man competitions have less restrictive diets, but certainly don't eat a dirty diet. I'm sure if you ate enough fast food its possible to get the macro's you need, but not without ingesting to much saturated fat and sugars.

I saw some studies that took someone who was eating junk food like Mcdonalds but kept is total calories low around 1400 to 1800 a day for 12 weeks another person did the same calorie range with healthy foods. The lost the same amount of weight.

I beleive in eating a clean diet, i also beleive in getting the maximum nutrients that you need in your diete, by eating lean meats for the B vitamines, iron, you also need good carbs like lentils beans and more for the fiber. Veggies and fruits, and water.

I dont beleive you need any supplement to meet your daily needs, protein requirments today are highly exagerated, i have been eating around 120g of protein now compared to before when i used to eat large amount with whey shake and more and i have not lost a single ounce of muscle.

Some people will get benefits eating 6 times per day, for me its more a hasle then practicle, i eat 2-3 times per day and try to cover all my bases.

I tried fasting it was very good for 24h once or twice a week, just got back from a cruise and i hate like a pig gotta get back into this next week.

You dont ha e to be healthy to get big and u dont have to be healthy to get lean, it all comes down to cals in vs cals out

The choice is urs if u want to eat sh1t but it WILL have a negative impact on cholesterol, blood pressure, overall health etc...

So simple answer is eat clean for both goal!

Agreed with Base, sort of. Calorie for calorie, you can attain the same size/strength whether the nutrients come from a McD's burger or boiled chicken breast. The difference is all of the other crap - the highly processed, preserved, additive-infested junk that you're putting in your body. Between the body fat and the other negatives Base listed, I think the choice is obvious in the case of a BBer.

The only part I disagree with is saying you don't have to be healthy to get lean; I don't think this is true for most people. Somebody who eats a calorie restricted diet of McDonalds might not get FAT - but I don't believe their body will look 'lean'. I think they would have the skinny fat look for sure.

Id like to see a study where 2 people were put on a calorie defecite diet with the same macro breakdown, one coming from all natural 'healthy foods' and one comng from processed 'un-healthy' sources

One person would become 'less healthy'

If correct calorie and macro timing were taken into consideration I think the results would be more similar than most people would think, i may be wronge ofcorse

If anyone has this study please slap it up for everyone

Yeah i'd love to see that, The clean diet must be better for everything considering that is what we're supposed to eat. PLus you have like Fiber and stuff that won't be in the junk food among other things that are important for digestive health. I'd love to see that kind of study though
