How much blood is normal after pinning?

Practiced pinning my quad today (injectable B-12).

    I used a 23G 1" needle and injected 1mL.

Everything went fine, when I aspirated, I felt the vacuum and the saw the small bubbles.

After injecting and pulling the needle out there was a steady trickle of blood from the pin spot.

In the past I have either had no blood or only a drop or two after removing the needle.

    Is this steady trickle normal/acceptable?

    Thanks for the help guys.

Normally you'll get little to no blood.
You just happened to pass through a vein. It's no big deal.

There is always a possibility of blood. I always get a little, a couple times an actual rooster tail of blood. you can use a z track method to eliminate this also.

    What's the Z track method?

To give a Z-track injection, use the non-dominant hand to move and hold the skin and subcutaneous tissue about 1–1.5 in laterally from the injection site. Breathe through the mouth and to try to relax the muscle to avoid muscle resistance. Continue holding the displaced skin and tissue until after the needle is removed. Dart the syringe rapidly into the site at a 90° angle. Aspirate on the syringe to be sure that a blood vessel has not been penetrated. Inject n slowly into the muscle. Be sure that the syringe is completely empty, before withdrawing the syringe. Withdraw the syringe and immediately release the skin and subcutaneous tissue.
