Injecting Tips/Survey

My vial of test.cyp. should be at my house today or tomorrow. I still need to get syringes/hubs as my pharm. supplier doesn't offer them as part of my benefit package. I forsee doing my first injection next week sometime. For the more experienced users here, what tips do you have for me to make life easier?

What are your preferred injection sites?

Z-track or just straight into the muscle?

Preferred gauge of your needle hubs?

Self-inject or have SO do it for you?

My doctor didn't give me any instructions when he agreed to to my going with IM. So, any useful tips based on your experience are much appreciated. ]

I go between Right Quad and Right Glute cause I am right handed. I draw with a 23G/1 1/2 and pin with an 18G/ 1 1/2.
I do it myself.
Ask your doctor for help. it is his job and he should have loads of safety knowledge for you.

other way around.... 23g is smaller than a 18g

i use 1" same size needles as above.. go from right quad to left quad when i was doing two injections a week.. i find glute is hard cause you have to look in a mirror.. the ztrack method is the best so i have heard.. but i only remember to do it every other time or so and only have a small amount of drippage when i don't..

ummm...My DR gave me 23g 1inch to draw and 23g 1.5 to inject . I did my first shot sunday , my butt really hurt on day 2 and 3 ...is my injection needle to large ?

I draw with an 18g and pin with a 25gx1.I'm switching back to a 23g.It is so much easier to inject with.And a good tip is to warm your oil up 1st.

I moved from 22g to 23g and had a hard time pushing. I warmed it for the first time tonight...so much easier.

All glutes for me. Painless. Don't see any reason to pin elsewhere yet. Maybe I will give something else a try eventually.

Anyways, OP, I'm currently drawing with 18g/20g & pinning with 25g x 1" in the lower/outer quad region. Have done the glutes too, either one works fine. Don't forget to aspirate!! I had my first real experience a few weeks ago with pulling blood back into the syringe. If I didn't aspirate, I would have never known.

quads for me, much easier and hardly feel it, and i prefer doing it my self! here is a great video to learn from, i don't stab as hard or as fast as they show in the video, i just do it slow.

Glutes mostly, 25 1 1/2, but quads every once in a while with 25 1's. Use only enough pressure to move the oil out. Have done delts, not a big fan.

I hit the quads with a 23 gauge. Make sure you aspirate and keep everything clean.

I've been using the glutes alternating from left to right. I'm going to try quads next week though. My back is getting thicker and it is becomingharder to twist around for the glute injections. Right now I am using 18g 1in for drawing and 23g 1.5in for pinning. Going to switch to 23g 1in for quads though.

my next supply of test my clinic is sending me is with grape seed oil, they said its much thinner and i can use a smaller gauge needle, but the 23g i am using now is just fine! so hopefully keeping the same gauge with thinner oil will inject easier! just a thought in case you want to consider grape seed oil base for your test!

Doctor "specified" 21G, 1", but I ordered some 22 and 23G syringes as well. I figure he ordered 21G as a compromise between getting the T out of the vial and pain on going into my body. I figure that the vastus lateralis area will be easiest. The nursing sites all talk about the dorsogluteal area, but I don't think very many people pin in that location.

good question, its hard to draw with 20g as is, i can't imagine going any smaller!

Yes, that was my doctor's plan. I am taking care of that...ordered some 18G pins to use to draw, then will use the smaller gauge needles to inject. Is that a plan?

So how are you guys warming your vials? How much? I assume just body temperature.

i wouldn't warn the whole vial! one of the members here suggested to warn the syringe after you draw and prior to injection, i believe he used a warn towel and wrapped it around the syringe to warm up the oil. remember to massage after injection!

Okay switched to the quads today and did my first injection with 1in 23g and it was fine. Much easier to aspirate and inject with it right in front of you.

Update...got my vial of test.cyp. 200mg/ml yesterday in the mail after several weeks of delay by the mail order pharmacy. As I had figured, the cost/price for the 10ml. vial of test.cyp. was about 1/20 the price of the Androgel I was taking for the same 3-month period of time. Because of the dosage timing my endo wants me on and the date of my next visit to see him, I won't do my first pin until mid next week. That will get me three dosings and a lab for BW before the doctor visit. Hope this goes well. I think I'll be happier with the results all around. The current dosage will get me 400mg. of test. per month versus about 225mg. with the Androgel.

^^^^^^ yea, waiting is sort of a "killer". Have tried to figure out how to "massage" the scheduling without messing up too badly, but I'm better off just waiting.
