    A couple diet questions!

    1. I learned that your body can only consume a certain amount of protein in "one serving", apparently if you go over this amount your body stores the protein it can't consume as fat. (I heard above 40g and your wasting protein because it won't consume that much in one go).

Is this a myth? (I learned it in school, I have always been wondering if this was true or not)

    2. What is a good meal/snack to have for your first 15 minutes after a workout? I know that is a very important time to eat so does anyone have any suggestions?

I usually go with a 36g Protein shake and a cup of unsalted almonds
    OR
A sandwich with 1 chicken breast, rosemary lettuce, and a thin layer of peanut butter for a source of fat on the bread. (whole wheat of course).

Welcome to the Diet Forum Todd!

To get better help, please give your stats and goals. And also list out what you eat all day long with macros if you have them. And if you have a photo to show, then post it if you wish.

You are already at a very low BF so let the members know this~

Rubbish. It's crazy that they teach this crap in schools... imagine a 120lb female and a 200lb male both having the ability to absorb/use right up to the magic number, 40g!

Don't worry. Eating larger amounts of protein will simply cause your body to take longer to process it all. Note that excess calories can be stored as fat, regardless of the macro nutrient ratio. Bear in mind that protein is the least likely to directly be converted to fat. Contrary to popular belief, carbs aren't the most likely either. What is? Bingo, fat! That's not to say fat is bad; the right fats are vital to life and health.

A protein shake is a good choice for fast absorption. Most people go with straight WPI; personally I like a blend, i.e. whey, casein, egg albumin, etc. I would advise against the almonds directly PWO as the fat will slow absorption of the other nutrients somewhat. Instead, go with complex carbs to get some insulin activity going (note I didn't say SPIKE insulin). For instance, my current PWO meal is 36g protein shake and 1/2 cup oats.

    Hope this helps.

Alright My stats are like so..

    Height: 5'11
    Weight: 165
    BF%: 8
    Age: 25

I want to get to 6% BF and then start to build muscle mass. Right now my diet is allowing me to lose weight (very slowly) while gaining some strength.

However I can't bulk right now for *muscle gain which is my main goal* because I want to get to 6% bf. Once I get to 6% I can change my diet for muscle gains while keeping my body at that BF%.

And here is another question for you guys.. If I was to take a mass gainer could I take it in the morning or should I have solid food for breakfast? (this is a bulking question, I don't think I would take this while trying to cut lol).

It has 950 Calories, 47g of Protein, 170g of carbs, 9g of fat (2g sat), and 28g of sugar. I don't know if I'm allowed to say the name and brand so those are the NI for the product.

BTW thanks for the answers for my two questions, that helped a lot, I'm buying a shit ton of oats tonight
