    Cutting diet and whey protien

    Ok howdy peeps.

What do you guys and gals think of using whey protien with 5 of my meals and 1 with meat. Im doing the low carb diet, but im really tired of meat and thought how easy it would be to just chug down 5 shakes with a fat source of course and one meal with meat(chicken, fish or steak). I dont know, maybe its crazy but I wanna gag on eating this much meat or eggs. Any suggestions. Also how do we know whats a legit. whey protein? Im using Iso 100, but hell i dont even know if its good or not, taste great though. Ok, let me know your thoughts or if you have tried this in the past. I have goten down to 9 or 10% on low carb without any chemicals, but wow idk if i can eat the meat again. Thanks in advance.

really need to post up your full stats and diet with all your macro's to really get any good comments. Especially since your trying to lose body fat you need macro's or else your going no where fast. But besides that il be the first of many to say that having 5 shakes a day instead of meals does not even come close to cutting it as a good diet. Need real food in your diet! Whats wrong with eating??

ISO100 is fine iv used it before and worked well for me, bananna my favorite.

Yeah I'm pretty much doing that right now... its basically called meal repla***ent ... I'm eating two solid meals a day and the rest protein powder... i don't have the flavored shit because it has heaps of garbage in it... just having raw protein isolate with water.. tastes like shit, smells like shit .. but it works ..

Dr Pepper .. he is saying he wants to go on Atkins 0 carb diet.. what I'm on,, which is basically eating all meat and eggs and cheese and nothing else.. but after a few days just the thought of a big fat juice steak is enough to make ya throw up so can he have protein powder for meals instead... answer is YES... and just make sure you take some multi vitamins..

Raw pasteurised egg whites are the best source of protein imo. Make some shakes with them. Casein is a better choice, whey and whey isolate/concentrate should only be used pre/post workout and 20% in morning shake with 80% egg whites.

Here is my breakfast shake I have every morning.

    250mls egg whites
    Cup of oats
Scoop of ON chocolate casein protein
    350mls water
    teaspoon cinnamon
    2xteaspoons instant coffee
    10g BCAA
half scoop max's whey protein isolate.

Its Low carb not No carb. Why are people so carbophobic. Perfectly fine to cut with this shake, really good after AM cardio session.

I’m not a big fan of over doing the shakes. True, you are getting your protein. However, you are missing out on other nutrients/fiber you ordinarily would get by eating whole foods. I do 2+ shakes a day, with three big meals and a mini meal later on at night.

Where do u get that raw isolate. All i see is the ones at gnc or online, iso says it has zero carbs, but its really good. Im in ketosis so im sure theres no real sugar in it. I was kinda worried about it from the taste. Yea i like the two meals a day and the rest shakes, like yours, easy and fast when the rest you can just chug. I swear i was just fixing to grind chicken up in the blender and drink it. My brother eats chicken 5 or 6 times a day, im like how the hell do u tolerate that, thats grisely.

    Ok im 6'2, about 330
meals are 50p, 20 fat for six meals, about 2200 calories a day. Yea i like the bananna, just got it yesterday, sweet. I read that i should do 80%fat and just 20% protein in another section. What do you think of that? I get the protien from chicken, fish, steak and whey. Fats from peanut butter, oil and almonds. I just do not see how i can continue munching on a dry chicken breast, steak is ok, but not for long. I just thought it would be easier, just a thought.

Sounds ok to me seeing thats what im doing but 2 things one is your powder just check out how many carbs are in it.. you really need to stay as far under 20g per day as you can and that flavored stuff last time i looked at some was loaded in carbs ..

The other thing is if you intend on stying on it for a few months at a time go off it every 7 days and hit the complex carbs ... then after 2 days of getting some good roughage go back on it again..

Should be sweet bro... good luck and keep us in the know...

The OP mentioned low carb but hasn't mentioned ketosis in this thread at least.

OP - Isolate is too fast acting to use as a meal repla***ent IMO. Casein is better or just pick a variety of protein sources that you like and rotate them, steak, fish, chicken, eggs, lamb, pork, cheese, salmon, tuna, mackerel, chicken wings/thighs/breast.

I've tried to replace my meals with shakes before. I would get extremely hungry if i only drank whey, and when i switched to casein i would just get clogged up and unable to crap for days and when i did it was like forcing out a brick. I ended up just buying some fiber pills, but all of this is completely unnecessary if you eat whole foods and vegetables. Plus i've had better results with whole foods and a lot more energy when i eat me greens.

If u do this add in some fiber (psyllium husk powder)and some oil for fat source. Get some powdered lechithin and add 1/2 teaspoon. It will create an emulsion and the fat(oil), water and protein mix up and dont seperate. Id suggest macadameia nut oil or xtra light olive oil. Peanut oil is ok as well. I still prefer whole foods but when i have a shake doing keto this is how i do it.

Hey JimmyinKedup, ill try that shake.
    1. do you think the ratio 0f 80/20 is ok, fat to protein
    2. What about cardio, some people say do low impact while on a keto diet, then others say it doesnt matter and hii works better. I have been jogging alot in the morning.

Off cycle keto 80% cals from fats - 20% from protein - carbs only incidental ones. Thats what i do and would recommend.

You can do something like that short term IMO, however I would most definitely swap the whey for something a bit more satiating - a blend would be your best bet.

That said, I have thought about doing this in the past and I believe you'll get tired of the shakes very quickly; you will start to crave food, it's just the way we're wired.

Yea your right GBrice, the shakes seem to increase the hunger. To much glucogenesis I think from way too much protein. The last two days I have switched it up too 80/20 fat/protein like the other guys said and feel a way better. I actually feel like lifting weights instead of making myself, imagine that. But yep, you are right, the shakes 5 meals a day made he chicken breast seem like a desert. It might be goo to switch it up once in a while, makes food seem great again. Hey man thanks for chiming in, and thank you guys for the help. Im glad I read that 80/20 ratio, seems to make all the difference in the world far as energy goes and hunger. Im not even gonna try and figure out why, I just gonna do it.

So should i do a carb up once a week, or just continue the keto andeat extra meat and fat calories once a week to keep the metabolism from crashing.

I would recommend carb up once a week- for sure.
Carb up should be low fat /high carb /moderate protein....

Thanks Jimmy, Im gonna do that Saturday. I cut all the protein drinks out, seemed to keep me out of ketosis even though the label said zero carbs. It was probably all the protein though, but now that im adding alot more fat, its easy to eat meat. But dam, have all this whey protein. Just see how it goes.

Yea I think that is a good move- just having shakes and ur body is missing out on the whole digestion process which is important
