I don't think it was the Aldactone! I have cramped on Winnie before so next time try lowering the dose till your body gets used to it!

It was from all 3. Orals can all cause cramping/pumps from glycogen retention and electrolyte imbalances. And aldactone wiped out all your electrolytes, since it is a diuritic. Oh, and it's also an anti-androgen, so I have no idea why any guy would use it over a pure diuretic.

LOL, under the circumstances that is way to simplified of an answer. From what I have read and heard discussed (no first hand experience) I agree with Bonaparte, it's an imbalance electrolyte issue.

Drinking more water is not always the answer either, it's what is in the water, proper amount of sodium. Usually it's good to load up on Gatorade or similar the day before a competition like running but with a BB competition obviously you dont want the extra water weight but getting to low on the electrolytes is even worse.

Dehydration, electrolyte inbalance, salt deficitent, over working, poor preperation for exercise (stretching), all may be causative factors when getting cramping.

Definitely not. Potassium is vital to every cell in your body and balances out cellular water retention from sodium (look up the "sodium-potassium pump" for more).
You can always use more potassium (assuming you don't suffer from renal insufficiency), since the RDA is insanely high.

yes but taken in context, if one starts suffering cramps, do you seriously believe supplementing potassium will cure it?

it never worked for me and a blood test showed what my doctor described as dangerous levels of it which could have led to kidney probs and this was only after using supps for two weeks. so id be careful recommending that ppl could always do with extra amounts of it mate

Considering potassium is a electrolyte, it can be very valuable in the prevention of cramps. And bananas even if you go monkey and eat 10lbs you won't come close to havin to much potassium. And potassium doesn't harm a normal kidney, most issues come from the kidney not processing the potassium enough out I'd the blood stream. If you have normal kidneys and take supps, it would mess with your heart long before the kidneys will have issues.
If you take to much of any supplement it can harm you, just cause you took alot and it didn't do anything for you doesn't mean it's broscience.

no, kidney problems lead to heart problems as put by my GP and as she had my blood analysis done and warned me from using potassium supps i think i'll take her word on the subject. but its great to know we've qualified doctors on here who can argue another doctors point.

Nice sarcasm, but its misplaced. Where did I argue your gp's point? That if you have "normal" kidneys then too much potassium would effect your heart before your kidneys, and yes kidney problems lead to heart problems due to too much potassium aka hyperkalemia. But potassium doesn't injure your kidneys if they are normal, might have been taking to much for your own kidneys to handle but as for damage to kidneys from excessive potassium, doubtful.
Do whatever you please but don't claim it all to be bs broscience when it doesn't work in your favor, ESP when there is real science behind it.

And supplements are entirely different than real food sources, and more issues would arise from them than real food sources any day, num 1 od for kids under 6? Iron supplements... Just an example

Im going to drink some pedialyte before I go out, hopefully it will help. My friend last year had to walk off the stage during his night show, barely made it off.

It couldn't hurt, but I doubt it would be a solid fix with all the stuff he was taking.

And kidney problems lead to hyperkalemia, not the other way around.
Also, most potassium pills only contain 99mg. The RDA is 3.5 GRAMS. So K+ supps are worthless compared to certain foods. (but yeah, bananas only contain around 400mg).
