    Is creatine making me aggro?

    I've been on the creatine for about a month now and I do believe its giving me a boost during workouts, upping the intensity and what not. I feel like a bit of a powerhouse sometimes. However I have also noticed that my fuse has become somewhat shorter over the last few weeks. I've become impatient when waiting in lines, more direct with people than usual, and have basically been getting the shits more easily.

    Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not certain my mood swings are creatine related, but its the only new supplement i've consumed in the said timeframe.

    Hey Blaz i personally havent ever had this problem but a close friend of mine turns into a deadset cranky c*%t on it. It is too the point that his girl can pick when he on it due to his mood and attitude change. You are the only other person i have heard of that gets the same effects. In saying that though the same bloke gets ridiculous gains while on it. More then anyone i have ever heard of.

    Some people react differently to certain compounds legzy. What i've got is a good product and I think it has its benefits, especially during workouts. But I never want to be the guy with a quick temper. I dont know alot of creatine users personally as most of my mates arent into training and nutrition, so I cant really compare and contrast.

    Its just creatine man, it doesn't change your mood. Do you get super pissed when you eat steak? There's creatine in that too.

    aggressiveness is not a side of creatine. However, it does allow a more intense workout, and this can sometimes trigger aggressiveness outside the gym in some....

    What type of creatine are u taking is it pure creatine or is it part of a supplement(energy booster,recovery formula......)?

    Three Weeks of Creatine Monohydrate Supplementation Affects Dihydrotestosterone to Testosterone Ratio in College-Aged Rugby Players

    Abstract

    Objective: This study investigated resting concentrations of selected androgens after 3 weeks of creatine supplementation in male rugby players. It was hypothesized that the ratio of dihydrotestosterone (DHT, a biologically more active androgen) to testosterone (T) would change with creatine supplementation.

    Design: Double-blind placebo-controlled crossover study with a 6-week washout period.

    Setting: Rugby Institute in South Africa.

    Participants: College-aged rugby players (n = 20) volunteered for the study, which took place during the competitive season.

    Interventions: Subjects loaded with creatine (25 g/day creatine with 25 g/day glucose) or placebo (50 g/day glucose) for 7 days followed by 14 days of maintenance (5 g/day creatine with 25 g/day glucose or 30 g/day glucose placebo).

    Main Outcome Measures: Serum T and DHT were measured and ratio calculated at baseline and after 7 days and 21 days of creatine supplementation (or placebo). Body composition measurements were taken at each time point.

    Results: After 7 days of creatine loading, or a further 14 days of creatine maintenance dose, serum T levels did not change. However, levels of DHT increased by 56% after 7 days of creatine loading and remained 40% above baseline after 14 days maintenance (P < 0.001). The ratio of DHT:T also increased by 36% after 7 days creatine supplementation and remained elevated by 22% after the maintenance dose (P < 0.01).

    Conclusions: Creatine supplementation may, in part, act through an increased rate of conversion of T to DHT. Further investigation is warranted as a result of the high frequency of individuals using creatine supplementation and the long-term safety of alterations in circulating androgen composition.

    Statement of Clinical Relevance: Although creatine is a widely used ergogenic aid, the mechanisms of action are incompletely understood, particularly in relation to dihydrotestosterone, and therefore the long-term clinical safety cannot be guaranteed.

    Upping the intensity of my workouts was the purpose of taking it in the first place. Everything is cool though, and has been for the last week or so.

    I'm using pure creatine monohydrate at about 5g per day.

    Its really amazing you post a study citing clinical evidence that creatine does indeed change DHT levels and people are still posting telling the OP that he is off base....

    ive personally never encountered it tbh and i stay on creatine year round these days mate

    no i know DHT levels can be related to aggression but the study isnt very conclusive in my opinion

    Thats real possible too,,,just a bad week equals a bad mood.
    I had never seen the DHT study with creatine,,,very interesting.
    We have used it for years and never noticed many if any side
    effects.
