I would like to start a thread on what skinny, old guys do to look and feel better; and, of course, looking for some quick advice from the forum for personal reasons.
I'm a young looking (some think) 47 yo that has worked out throughout my life trying to bulk up and have a body that is close to the average. A great benefit of working out has been staying fit, yet the physical, outward appearance has been pretty much a plateau with some happy gains here and there. I'm talking being 105 lbs throughout HS and college with a final gain to 120 in my mid 30's. Now in my 40's, I am finally hitting towards 145-150 at 5'7" height. I like the extra weight, yet being forty plus, it quickly goes right to the belly and no matter how much more I lift, muscle gain is at a much slower rate. Getting rid of the body fat helps cholesterol levels, yet it is hard to keep the muscles fed for increased size; so being thin, sinuous may be healthy, it is far from being visually appealing. This can be as frustrating as being overweight and needing to regain that youthful physique - for me, having a body that won't bulk up nicely is equally frustrating....not to mention that I'm not happy having this wonderful extra weight and not being able to tap it's potential. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
