Thread: Who makes the most pure supplements?

Who makes the most pure supplements?

Does anyone have any ratings, reviews, etc on who makes the most pure supplements? I've used NOW for a long time. I am actually more wondering about Arginine and other Amino acids. I took the NOW Arginine and my liver numbers tripled. It may have had nothing to do with it... but 2 weeks off of it brought it back down to normal. I can get pure pharmacutical grade for 80.00 for 500 grams. Expensive yes, but at least I know there are no additives in it. Suggestions?

I would not use NOW myself, I think they got real dirty from the fish oil PCB lawsuit.

Aminos I just buy bulk from http://nutrabio.com/index.html

When you guys are talking about "Now" are you referring to "Now Foods"? I have been using Now Foods multi vitamin for a few months now. I'm concerned with what boxingfan30 was talking about in elevated liver numbers as I got blood work done a few months back and my AST & ALT enzymes were tripled as well.

Really M302? I am very surprised about that! I thought maybe it was just me. If you are still taking it I would get off of it IMMEDIATELY... I took Milk thistle (which you may already take) for 2 weeks, upped my cardio and even more water and the levels did fall back to the middle of the normal range.

Well I'm not necessarily blaming my elevated values solely on the Now multivitamin as I'm a walking talking supplement store. I had actually attributed my elevated liver enzymes to what I believe to be unpure peptides (precision peptides, GHRP-2 & CJC-1295 no Dac) but now I'm not so sure. What you have posted def. has me thinking it could be something else I'm taking as well. Here's a list of the supps I'm taking:

    GHRP-2 - Precision Peptides
CJC-1295 no DAC - Precision Peptides
    Now - Multi vitamin
5g Creatine Mono - ON Creapure
4g Beta alanine - True Protein
    5g AAKG - True Protein
    1 scoop - Jack3d
    BCAA's - True Protein

As you can see there are a lot of variables here to differentiate what exactly is elevating these liver enzymes. I am switching companies on the peptides and starting taking Himalaya brand Liver Care. I need to go back for a retest in a few weeks. I have also read that heavy weight lifting can elevate these enzymes to a certain degree but not to triple the upper limit. How long after did you get retested?

well, if you look at the question, if something is "pure" how can something else be "more pure"?

I do seem to buy in bulk from nutribio, amongst others

I went off of both Arginine and Orinthine for 2 weeks, took Milk Thistle and that was when I began my most intense cardio as I read that would help the liver. 2 weeks later it was better.

My supplements are and have consisted of the following for at least a year.

    Now 200 mg Ubiquinol
Now Vitamin C with rose hips 1000 mg
    Olympic Labs garlic
    Puritan's Pride men's multi
(more recently) Now's fish oil 1000 mg 4x a day ... before that it was Puritans Pride also
    AST sports R-ALA 100 mg 1x a day
    Now Super Antioxidants
Gasparsi Whey (1-2 scoops a day)

I just ordered several new supplements last night... I am replacing all of the NOW stuff as I get more money.

I am going with Doctor's best and Jarrow's brand of stuff. They are MUCH more known for their quality control.

This is the shitty place that was busted selling saline solution as ghrp and cjc1295. What a bunch of scammers!

Yeah I have been reading up on their shitty reputation...no wonder their prices are so cheap! You live and you learn...I'm throwing the rest of their products in the garbage! Thanks for the insight!

Everything is normal now... I ordered some Arginine that is Jarrow's brand, which was pretty cheap... my Fiancee doesn't want me to take anything but pure Arginine from my pharmacy which is expensive. It could be a waste of money, or it could be a case of you get what you pay for as well. My pharmacist also gives me stuff like that at their cost. I'm going to clear it with my Doc to get back on it, and see if she is ok with it... if so, i'm going to try and then retest after a few weeks.

Yeah, I will. I also contacted bb.com where I got the Arginine and told them about it as well. If nothing else maybe NOW will up their quality control better.

By the way M302... I used that ON creatine for quite a while and other than my kidney numbers being VERY slightly elevated, I never had any liver issues in case you were wondering about that.
