How many of you guys got your TRT treatment from a primary care physician?

I have 2 endo appts set up for the end of this month and the beginning of next. Im worried that I may get turned down for trt because of my age and steroid use. Im 26- As some of you know I started taking PHs at 15 and started aas at 17. I always did a proper PCT, and eventually stopped at 19. My hormones felt fine for a few years after that. However, looking back, around 23-24 I started to have some symptoms of low T.

2 months ago I did my first cycle in 7 years. The test made me feel like someone turned on the light inside my head... I slept well, had energy all day, memory was sharp, I started to show interest in hobbies I had completely forgotten about.


Should I be completely honest with endo's? If they refuse treatment I may just plead my case to my primary care doctor who has always been very good to me. Has anyone tried that? Thanks guys.

I'm 30 years old, started roids at 20.. Was up front with my endo doctor but he did make me wait about a year and a half to put me on trt I had symptoms of low test at 23-24 also, was always tired!!

But also my gp gave me androgel also.. I live in the U.S

You are in luck because this is exactly what happened to me, i went to the medical doctor been doing prolotherapy for ligament laxity we did a lot of things botox, and more, i sat down and told him i was wasted, feeling tired all the time, my anemia got back go figure why.

He put me on TRT without even getting my testosterone levels... he gave me androgel, i hated the feeling went back about 2 weeks later and he gave me injections delatestryl 200mg per 10 days.

I am not saying its going to be easy for you, but if am not saying its going to be hard either, i guess it really depends on who you go see.

I wouldn't tell them. Just let them do bloodwork and when it comes back that you need it, they will prescribe it. Too bad you were so stupid in your youth. That is the problem with life. Youth have the ability and age has the wisdom. Too bad we couldn't have them at the same time.

Exactly my thoughts in retrospection. Ive always been strong minded, independent in thought, and decisive. The same characteristics that help me now led to a few bad decisions in my youth. I will also add that the boards I posted on ten years ago were a lot more open to 24 and under juicers. No one ever explained the complexities of the endocrine system like you get here.

Run your labs and see where the cards fall. If your "T" is low, you could face a chance that they will put you on 1 pump of gel, or 1 shot of cyp per month, or some other goofy protocol. Sometimes getting approved for TRT all the sudden brings unexpected complications into the mix. Happened to me at 42, and I ended up going completely out of pocket to get the proper care. I don't know your situation, but I know at 26, I wouldn't have been a position to do anything else. Just food for thought.

Agree completly with vetteman, run your labs and let the chips fall where they will. I pay out of pocket for everything because I choose to use a clinic so I dont have to put up with the BS, I could get what I want. I will say this, educate yourself with this board and these people. Looking back if I had half a brain I would of dunnit. Hindsight is always 20/20. Personally I am not an advocate of steriod use personal opinion I suppose (not that I didnt make my mistakes 25 yrs ago with AAS) probably why I'm in the predicamant I am now, but I am really a beleiver in getting dialed in top range, not above limits.

present. but when i wanted to make some changes to the "standard" protocol, then at that point was referred to an endo

Frankly, I am not sure what the doc would hold against you for admitting steroid use in the past. Because as it stands now, you may have low T regardless of the cause. At the end of the day you probably want to get to feeling normal and good again. Telling them you used stuff in the past might help them figure out what's wrong with you, but I'm not a doc and can't diagnose that.

A good doctor is someone is has your best interest in mind and will try to help you regardless of how you got to where you are. If a doctor would not want to treat me for alcoholism because I did it to myself then I wouldn't want to be under their treatment in the first place. That's my take on the matter (not that I'm an alcoholic, but I believe that a doc should not let personal opinions/judgment effect what is the best treatment.)
