How does SUBUTEX for Chronic pain affect Testosterone dosing?

    Hey Everybody,

I have been on Subutex for a couple years, and am expected to be on it long term due to Chronic Pain resulting from Motorcycle Accident/Leg Amputation and multiple other injuries from years ago. I had all the Symptoms of Low T, and after running all the tests for Low Testosterone, and not finding anything, I mentioned that I was on the Subutex and it was an AH HA moment. I should have told the Dr. that first, but didn't know any better. I am told that Opioid use can lower Test levels (Subutex is Opioid based).

I am 47 y/o and my Test levels 4 weeks apart were 87 and 93, pretty low, I'm currently at 6ft 1. and 275lbs. I'm modifying my diet and starting to exercise again to help.

The Dr. decided since I needed to be on the Subutex, possibly for Life, I needed to be on TRT. My question is, if the Subutex is one of the causes for my Low Test in the first place, what effect do you think it will it have on my weekly dosing? I had some issues with overdosing myself (posted in another thread in HRT) and am still trying to get my levels straightened out, but was just looking to see if anybody has any experience with this issue. I realize everybody is different and I will use monthly BW testing to help also.

I did read through the search results for Subutex but there wasn't really anything that answered my question I don't think...

There will be no issue. Opioids lower lh and fsh output at the pituitary. Injecting test bypasses this issue.

any chance you can get off subutex and use something else for pain control? that may solve your low-test problem. unless you've already tried everything else available...

I too am on Subutex, and honestly i ****ing hate it. It KILLS my sex drive like no other.

Subutex usually isnt used for pain management though, strange they have you on it for that. Its very strong, but also only a partial anagonist. So it doesnt really work like other "real" opiates.

Im on it for opiate dependency, i had a serious probably with oxycontin and just couldnt kick the habit, so i went to the doc and this is what they put me on.

Its almost like a miracle that i was able to stop using oxy, but at this point i just want to be done with it...

So for low t, i feel you man, it feels like i have low t too because of this shit. My libido is down, my sex drive sucks, i feel groggy and tired most the time. Im starting to feel bad for my wife..
