Am I at the right stage for steroids?

I am 43 y/o 6'1" 212, 15% b/f and have been working out minumum of 5/days week for over 12 months (in this current phase, have lifted in the distant past) I have never done steroids and dont just want to take anything. I have read almost every sticky on this board and want to learn everything I can before proceeding. I have already had a vasectomy and am currently bald so several of the side affects do not bother me Because I am starting this late in the game is the standard "novice cycle" testosterone enanthate and dianabol the right cycle for me or should I be looking at something a little more aggressive?

I would suggest a test-only cycle for your 1st go at it.

The gains you will get from a test - only cycle will be awesome if you have a good diet and good training regimin. This will also let you gauge how you respond to steroids and act as a benchmark for you to use when adding in other compounds in the future. I can assure you that you will be satisfied with the results from a proper test cycle.

I assume that you have a proper PCT planned out and a proper OCT planned out for this cycle. If this is the case, get on it!!!

I am a complete newbie so I assume PCT is Post Cycle Therapy, and I was looking at Clomid therapy as noted in the "Basics of Steroids" section

    What is OCT?

I am very stricy with my diet and I know I will need to step up the calories once I start the cycle

I am not ready to start until i figure every thing out in advance, I am older than most of the rookies on here and not in as big a hurry to just jump in.

    Good stuff.

So for the cycle just run 500mgs/week of test Enanthate for 12 weeks. Pin 2 times per week.

For the OCT (on cycle therapy), I use a small dose of Arimidex. .25mgs/every other day. If you are concerned with testicular atrophy, you might want to take 500iu/week (split into 2 shots) starting at around week 8 or when you see the boys start to shrink. Stop this about 4 days before you start your PCT.

For the PCT you would start 14 days after your last shot and it would consist of Clomid and Nolva. 100/50/50/50 for the Clomid and 40/20/20/20 for the Nolva. If you need me to explain those numbers, no prob.

This is what I would do and have done... Very basic first cycle with minimal complications. The gains will be great though if you dial in your diet.

Do not get me wrong man i am not saying 43 is old because it isnt at all, but if you have the time do take a simple blood test to see where your natural testosterone levels are at because its more common than you think these days for males over 36 to have very low natural levels for many "un-natural" reasons influenced by food, prescription drugs, chemicals in water, the reason i recommend this test is because if you do find that you are starting the cycle with very low testosterone you will have to be very serious about your post-cycle-therapy in order to restore your natural levels. Or dare i say......consider getting a legal doctor's prescription testosterone.

JD - Thanks for the detailed advice.

For the OCT you recommend 500iu/week, what do I take 500iu of? Is this in addition to the Arimidex?

KAEW44 - First off, thanks for the "preface" on my age

I definately like the idea of getting testosterone prescribed by my doctor, but wouldnt I have noticed other issues if my testoterone levels were down?

Hahaha. Sorry... HCG. And yes, this is independent of Arimidex.

.25mgs/EOD of Arimidex and 500iu/week of HCG if testicular atrophy occurs.

On a test-only cycle... Followed by a conventional PCT that has worked for me.

Please explain where these suggestions are incorrect.

A member above brought up the fact that due to my age (43) I may have naturally low testosterone, I checked my test results from my last visit (6 months ago) and my testosterone was 485.8 mg/dL. I assume that this level is normal, am I correct?

I think (key word here is "think") that normal test range is 250 - 1050 ng/dl.

I'm not sure based on age if you're normal or not. There'll be tons of info in the TRT section on this though, I assume...
