I would say that really depends on you, what your activities include after 9, and what exactly you eat.

For example if you just finished working out with something pretty intense and then consumed a decent broccoli and chicken meal of course portion reduced do to the fact it's really late I should think your body would make use of those nutrient and they wouldn't be stored as fat. I work night shift usually 2 or 3 times a week and it doesn't effect me that I'm eating after 9.

On the other hand if it's just lounging and then bed shortly after a meal I believe it would be the opposite. Try eating something really hearty around 6 that really fills you up and then consume large portions of water the rest of the night

It really depends on what you eat. But a lot of variables in there such as current diet, stats and goals. Not to run you off, but if you post in the Nutrition Section and lay out your diet, i bet there's a lot of guys and gals there willing to help.

IMO depending on a few factors its really no big deal to eat after 8pm. Provided your main goal is to gain mass and not lose weight you would actually need to ingest some protein. Your body does most of its rebuilding while your asleep so you need to give your body the supplies to be able to rebuild. The reason most people preach no eating after a certain time is most of the ppl that applies to are strictly trying to lose excessive amount of body fat. For ppl trying to add muscle that rule really doesnt apply. Now in no way am I saying its ok to eat a bunch of empty caloriesbut eating calories rich in protein is mandatory and if not done will most likely lead to your body going into a catabolic state. Most ppl like to consume a casein protein shake this is because casein is absorbed at a slower rate than whey. If a shake isnt enough for you I would try to adjust my meal regimen so that my last solid food meal falls a little closer to bedtime. Have this meal consist primarily of protein and not many carbs and def very little fats if not any.

my nutritionist has me eating a 6oz london broil steak and 1 cup of brocili right before I go to bed. Keeps you anabolic through the night. I'm pretty strict about my diet but I can maintain 8% with no problem. I am never hungry and usually always feel full. some nights I add a tablespoon of peanut butter.

From what I know your body will process the food exactly the same any time of the day. For some needing to keep their metabolism up it is actually beneficial.

If you can stay asleep its fine, if you wake up with indigestion, you need to tweak.

I eat every 3 - 4 hours around the clock. Between the hours of 9 pm & 6 am, I eat 7 oz of grilled chicken, 60 gram protein shake & 2 cans of tuna.
