This is going to sound crazy but why not. if adequan (for my horse) helps my knees, maybe something people use will help him...
My horse was just diagnosed with an avulsion fracture of the third trochanter of his femur. this is a particularly trick spot because his biggest butt muscle is attached to it. The muscle and ligaments and all the soft tissue are attached and healthy but the big gluteal muscle is pulling on it or will when he moves so the vet has said he has to be on stall rest for a YEAR. This is a four year old, he hasn't even begun training yet. after that year, because risk of reinjury is high, he has to be retired.
I've hand raised this beast and am devastated.
what do we use to heal fractures? is there some sort of supplement that is known to increase calcification or healing of bone?
