I'm jealous! I haven't got to hunt since I moved out of Texas . I'm hoping to take a moose/elk/deer with my bow this next season!

Hate bear!!! If i thought that i could ship it across the boarder, i would. I dont even really need any meat this year. I will probably give most the moose away, make jerky and sausage out of deer. Bull Elk is a general tag so i might grab one if these 2 tags are filled before the weather drop to minus 40. If I dont, i wont lose any sleep. I wont get drawn for a moose again for 2 years so i have to get this tag filled

Thye bear is a little (alot) fatty but you soak a roast in teryaki marinade for acpl days then sprinkle heavy with Rosemary and toss it on a grill or smoker mmmmmmm

an odd six will drop an adult moose with ease. what's more important is, shot placement and the type of bullet.

I agree...06 was pretty much all the old timers ever used...remember it was the main caliber used in Military rifles for alot of years and the guns and ammo were readily available WW11 era so it was used on everything from fox and coyote to Moose and Grizz

capetown, zero your rifle to 275yds. you now have a 10" point blank range (PBR) of about 325yrds - no holdover. and anything out to 325 is a chip shot with a rest and a quality scope.

I have it in for 200. 300 yards is about a 2 inch drop. Im really no good at messing with my scope and am just glad when its in.

In Jersey we can't use rifles, so this year I'm gonna be hunting with a new Savage 212, it's a 12 gauge BOLT ACTION rifled slug gun...I was previously using a pump action Mossberg 20 ga. with a rifled barrel, I'm effective to about 160 yards with it. The Savage 212 however is supposed to have an effective range of about 300 yards tops, that is pretty damn impressive for a 12ga slug. I use Lightfield Sabots, but I'm going to be using Hornady SST's this year, to make up for the loss in flat trajectory of the 20ga. I hunt mostly deer, but also enjoy snow geese, pheasent, and duck.
