Wanting to get retested after being on for 10 weeks or so. Last time all i got was total and free. this time i want to get everything I need.

is this a package deal from PrivateMDlabs? if so yes, its a good starting package, but if you want to spend a little more money them throw in DHEA and Vitamin D. the next BW you do in the future don't include LH and FSH, at that point they'll be shutdown and that's expected while being on TRT.

Make sure it's the sensitive estradiol assay.

Make sure you get DHEA-s (SULFATE) if you test that. Id recommend it, as well as D3 (25-hydroxy) if you never checked that before.

HRT, it is my understanding that for the first follow up BW LH and FSH need to be done to make sure TRT is working the way it should, after that no need to do it. This is also noted in Kel's thread Finding a Physician.

Would it hurt? Not other than the cost. But really, unless there is some disease process the T will be doing its thing. But I suppose if I saw an elevated LH or FSH after starting TRT that I would suspect something pituitary or hypothalamus. But then I would probably say these must have been elevated before starting TRT and therefore the patient must be primary hypogonadal, in which case we don't really care about these signals because the boys aren't working anyways... ahh but I digress... it's probably worth getting the test done just so you dont have to worry about that extra grey hair lol.

none of these has the sensitive assay E2! its very important you gat the sensitive assay, is this from PrivateMDlabs? if so you may need to get the standard Male Hormone Panel which includes sensitive assay and add the other individual test that was recommended by the members. Standard Male Hormone Panel only cost about $161 or so.

Yes it is from PrivateMDLabs. The problem is adding just DHEA and DHT to it is more than the test itself. I was wondering if one of the bigger packages has all of them in included?

The Ultimate Thyroid Panel with Basic Hormones looks pretty good, but it's critical that you get the sensitive E2 assay. You can call them or email to clarify.

Unfortunately, this test doesn't have SHBG or free T but but but... not all doctors place the same weight on these. I am glad I got this stuff at baseline. I would do it again. But now that I have a better understanding of my body's personal biochemistry, I don't worry about free T, thus SHBG. I'll probably get it done yearly still, but I place more weight on total T being in a good range and making sure my E2 is under control.

I like the ferritin and iron testing because Dr Mariano seems to be emphasis on it, and this guy is a true expert. I found out that my ferritin was very low - low to the point where Dr mariano says it needs to be brought up or you may notice deleterious effects. He has a lot of posts about ferritin, whereas I never see others talk about it.

Ferretin is a good choice and you're right, not many seem to talk about it. Vette is a big proponent of it. Like we are with D! Regarding total T and free T, I think consistency in what test you use is most important. If just total then fine. It is the pool from which free comes from and some docs will use just that.

We already did that, just go back and read what we have suggested. DHEA, DHT, SHBG, VITAMIN D...

Yeah I get that, but adding just dhea, dht, and vitamin d adds $250 to the already $169. And even that doesn't include SHBG. I just figured with all the talk of listing your blood results and the parameters that there would be an agreed upon all inclusive panel to get. Kind of one that has the best bang for the buck kind of thing. If there is a combo panel that is the best value to get the most things listed, instead of paying more than the entire panel costs to add on 3 things.
