i think the paleo diet is a solid foundation. Cut out processed foods and eat a lot of fruits, veggies, and quality protein and fats. However, for someone that trains hard day in and day out i don't think a 100% strict paleo diet is the answer. When someone is training hard they are taxing their glycolitic pathway and need a lot of carbs for energy, etc. In my opinion a low carb paleo approach is not optimal to maximize your performance. Even the elite crossfiters don't eat paleo. I eat pretty close to a paleo diet, with a lot of sweet potatoes, rice, bread every now and then and whey protein. Give it a try see if you like it.
