1. Stay consistent but don't over train. A lot of guys walk around proudly stating how their shoulder workouts are 20+ sets but very few guys need to train like this.
2. Eat enough to grow. If you're not growing you're not eating enough. Even if you think you're eating a lot, if you're not growing you're not eating enough. If you're gaining too much body fat you're eating too much.
3. Don't believe anything any bodybuilding magazine tells you about supplements. I'd even say you should walk a fine line with what you believe concerning anything they say. Bodybuilding magazines are for all intense purposes equal to those newspapers you see at the grocery store checkout line that talk about celebrity affairs, armageddon and so on.
4. Train smart. If you're actually sick don't go to the gym. But don't make excuses to go like you're a little tired. If you are truly tired, you haven't slept in 24hrs because of some crises or whatever, for crying out loud don't go to the gym. Your hardcoreness will actually be stupidness.
5. Stay away from the idea that there are magical rep and set ranges or workout programs. There are good examples out there but there's no such thing as the perfect protocol. There are lots of thing that will work.
