Angry Unhappy with your body at times?

    Alright lads,

After a long hard 3 years of lifting you look at yourself and think im making amazing progress in the gym. A week later you look again and you feel unhappy with your body.. Im natural because im only 18 but I read some people are still unhappy after hard dieting, training and using gear. Is this just an illusion? Does everybody get this no matter how big you are? Let me hear your opinions

    Thanks

I don't think it would be that. Im happy with my body and im making amazing gains but sometimes I expect more because I look at other bodybuilders and expect more of my body. But 95% of the time im happy with my progress

I am this way. My wife thinks I have body dismorphia. I can be at gym one day and think I look great, day or two later I think I look like shit. Hell even in the same day. Its nothing that effects me negatively, just keeps me working. But Ive never been one of those guys that struts around thinking im the sh*t, but im in better shape than alot of them that do...

We are our own worse critic and at times its tough to see past little things and in turn ruin the entire view. No matter what most of us all want better and if we think back 5 years ago if it were then wed tell ourself wed be so happy if you looked like we do now. In the end most of us are never happy entirely and will continue to attempt to make progress. Being happy with ones self comes down to many things. Some people can just deal with things better. Me on the other hand nope... i feel like a tub of lard and never happy. Which is good because it keeps me moving forward ( or try moving forward) some weeks I go backwards, trial and error or what not.

agreed this should be in lounge

it depends on whom and what you are comparing yourself to. If you hold yourself to high standards such as pros and models then yes you will feel like that since these people are gifted genetically and are paid to be in tip top physical shape while for most of us we are average and do it as a hobby. I am going to go ahead a say anyone who works out at least 4 days a week, diets accordingly, and busts their ass for results is going to have a little bit of body dismorphia. We are after all our own worse critics so our own perceptions of ourselves will be bias. I take this as a positive which motivates me to work harder to break plateaus setting the bar higher for myself.

This is one instance where photos are very helpful. 9/10 times I look in the mirror I still see the same "old" me staring back. Snap a few photos and then you get to see what everyone else sees when they look at you.

I can identify with this. For me, it's important to remember that this is something I love to do and i enjoy the healthier lifestyle.

I don't think I'm ever happy. I can always be bigger, leaner, stronger. I always have lagging body parts. Doesn't make me unhappy, but it keeps me motivated.

Don't get too hung up on it, just keep working

It's weird you bring that up because I do this from time to time and I always look back and go. Wtf did I eat that day or what happened in the last week? You look at yourself everyday so it's hard to see progress. But I really think this method keeps me in check
