    Shoulder pain during incline db

Well the headline pretty much sums it up. I do 15degree incline on a adjustable bench. When I press (during incline bd press movement) I get sharp pain in my left shoulder. To much to continue. I want to hit the upper pectoral region as hard possible. does anyone have any experience dealing with this situation or a possible solution?

Possible rotator cuff injury. I get sore in the left shoulder deep inside. Pushing my shoulder blades together as much as possible helps slightly. And 5gs msm crystals have alleviated the problem slightly but I'm now going to go through an off load time as its loooooonnnnnnng overdue... just give my joints a break n time to heal. Can't afford tb500 atm

I had that exact issue. It got worse as I kept lifting. I now can't bench or anything using my left shoulder. Going in a month to get my rotator fixed. Its a partial tear. I suggest you get your doc to get you an MRI immediately and go from there.

There are exercises that should be included in any routine that's strengthens all the little ligaments and stabilizer muscles inside of your shoulders(rotator cuff). Just research which ones will work for you. I do internal and external rotation exercises with light dumbells. It makes a difference trust me, after years of lifting half which was in pain I had someone turn me on to these.

What he said. I have tendonitis in my right shoulder and some tiny rotator tears that don't need surgery. I no longer can do any type of flyes or shoulder presses, but the pain has gotten much better since doing rotator exercises. I do most of them with cables. I also can do inclines now on a smith machine. Going from the rack to working position on a regular incline bench put too much stress on my shoulder. Fortunately, heavy db's on a flat bench cause me no pain.

Take a break. Rest. Skip that exercise if you can work around it.

    TB500
    MSM Powder
    DMSO gel

Thanks for the replies. It's weird shoulder press, no pain. Lateral raise slightly irritates it. Decline db press no pain. Pec dec flyes, no pain. Should I just skip incline presses for a while? I'm mid cycle now. So I should probably just avoid that exercise till cycle is done then take a break.

Kel, the supplements you recommend. I'm assuming you recommend them from experience? Would they be able to ween off the pain till at least the end of my cycle?

I can't answer for kel, but the msm works!! I been on it for a few weeks and my joint pain is gone. Yes I would skip if inclines hurt you. How
About dips, maybe try not so high Incline. I would start some rotator ex too. You check them out on YouTube. At least maybe save your cycle, but if its extremely painful I would do like kel said and take some time off, otherwise you may injure the area enough where you will be down alot longer. Good luck with it, let us know how it goes.

I can speak from experience and they do work/help. I had rotator cuff surgery (extensive) just over a year ago. I still can not bench anywhere near what I could 2 years ago before the initial injury like yours that kept getting worse but it's better than it was after the injury and constantly getting better.

I've not done TB500 but it gets glowing reviews from members here for it's healing properties. MSM I do all the time and love it as well as topical DMSO gel when needed. DMSO is old school but it works. They mix it with aloe now which makes it more palatable. But seriously, if the exercise hurts just skip it. There are usually ways to work around injuries / irritations that allow you to keep going and not just stop lifting. The main thing is to not make it worse to the point you cannot lift or need surgery.

Last summer I irritated my shoulder by continually pushing through the pain. I was able to shoulder press anything but could not do a lateral raise to save my life no matter how many times I tried. I just did more pressing movements. I had developed tendinitis and eventually went in for prolotherapy (consider this) which significantly sped up the healing process.
