Why is the Half-Life of a topical like Axiron so different from an injectable like Cypionate?

Axiron can bump you from 300 to 650 in 2 hours, but it goes back down to 300 or so within 24 hours.

Cypionate can do the same thing, but it takes 10 days to return to where you started?

Topicals are straight testosterone without an ester attached. Testosterone has a half-life of something like 10-100 minutes.

Testosterone cypionate has an ester attached to the testosterone. It takes time for you body (liver I think) to cleave the ester off the testosterone molecule. Hence the long half-life.

The purpose of the quick response to gels is to mimick the bodies natural rise and fall (diurnal) of endogenous testosterone. Closest thing to "natural" we have but it's a pain in the ars.....some do great on it though!

What does a normal (non-hypogonadal) rise & fall look like as far as numbers?

So normal levels naturally rise about 400 ng/dl each day and then fall?
