Will a doctor prescribe T for me considering I am already on it?

I know that sounds weird but I originally got a prescription for Androgel and insurance picked it up when my level was around 400..

Now that I am injecting and only know starting to get a grip on the sky high levels I have gotten to..I want to go to a doctor and get things sorted out again...

This all happened with the combination of moving and unexpected heart surgery...(that I am certain was triggered by the T injections...Valve was going and it was stomped on with the thick blood that built up.

Now that I've donated 2 pints of blood and plan to do one more next week and am starting to get a grip on the dosages of the injections, it seems in about 3-4 weeks I will be somewhat stable and accurate in my levels.

But when I go to a doctor for treatment and advice, will they be able to prescribe T if my levels are showing up already high?

It's not so much that I mind paying out of pocket but I would like to travel and not worry about getting arrested for transporting this stuff illegally.

I just found a new Doc. I asked the same question directed to Doctors prior to choosing one. I wanted to make the Doctor Visit count. They require you show some prior treatment blood work, records of your most current T treatment. Basically they need to see your numbers prior to treatment, or records proving you are currently being treated. Otherwise you would have to let your T levels drop, have your doc appointment, get blood work, etc.

It is not as bad as it sounds, you say you had a prescription, plus been through a lot. Just make sure, if you tell the doc you are out of T, but on the other hand score high T on Lab, it is not going to benefit you.

If you have a current prescription from a doc, you should not have any problems. Although a new Doctor Likes to have a current lab, and prob another 4-8 weeks something like that.

To break it down. get the Doctor, records showing you are being treated for low T. If needed most pharmacies hang on to your prescription records. Lowtestosterone.com advertises on here. If you pay more than they are asking your getting ripped.
My PCP would not give me the blessing until my T fell below 400. Even though My PCP does not treat my T I still like to keep everyone in the loop.

There are some really great people around here, with good advice. Especially less is better @twice a week advice makes sense. Also to titrate up instead of having to reduce.

Then after reading your story, and thinking back how bad I felt when my T was low. Thinking now I sure do not want to over do anything, and feel bad later.

having said all that, although it seems like a task at times to get a new Doctor.....It was for me, I just do not like clinics/hospitals, etc, and have good reason. After all it was not so bad....Just get on track, and listen to the good advice these people are giving you.

Thanks Laser, I have lab work from 3 years ago and a script for Androgel. T was 400, have to check for Free. The pharmarcy does have records.

I wouldn't try lying to the doctor as it has to be someone how understands and trusts that I have seen the light and just want to get on track.

I have a couple of leads and look forward to putting this in order and behind me..One more pint of blood to get to my baseline and I'm good to do on that at least and I think it will be 3 more weeks from now at 50mg2x a week before ready for another test.

Sounds like laser gave you good suggestions. Nothing like the good ole' KISS rule. ;-)

Get your old records; bring them to your new doctor. Done.

Suggestion: It might be better to continue this on your original thread so people get a sense of your history as it progresses.

Yes if you had a prior script..Weather they let you use injections is another thing.
