Hi!
Last week I ordered a "Hormone Panel For Males" + "FSH & LH" from Private Medical Labs. Now I received the results and I have a few questions. Here are the relevant tests:
- Testosterone, Serum 643 ng/dL (348-1197) - this is about average for a 30-34 years old man (based on some studies)
- Testosterone, Free 21.54 ng/dL (5.00-21.00) - high
- % Free testosterone 3.35% (1.50-4.20)
- LH 5.9 mIU/mL (1.7-8.6)
- FSH 8.6 mIU/mL (1.5-12.4)
- Prostate-Specific Ag, Serum 0.6 ng/mL (0.0-4.0)
- IGF-1 187 ng/mL (71-241)
- Estradiol, Sensitive 6 pg/mL (3-70)
- TSH 2.420 uIU/mL (0.450-4.500)
- Thyroxine (T4) 8.9 ug/dL (4.5-12.0)
- T3 Uptake 35% (24-39)
- Free Thyroxine Index 3.1 (1.2-4.9)
My stats are:
- Age: 31
- Height: 5" 10 (178 cm)
- Weight: 174 lbs (79kg).
- Body Fat: around 11-12%
I took this test at 8 00 am, fasting for 12 hours. Two weeks before this test I took another test (around 11 30 am) and at that time my total testosterone was 325, which is pretty low. It seems that somehow my total testosterone raised from 325 to 643 in two weeks. Does the total testosterone fluctuate that much? Is it possible that in the first test the testosterone was low just because I had a bad day or something? How accurate are these tests? Should I get another test just to be sure?
The free testosterone seems to be a little high. Maybe because I was fasting and the body did not have enough protein? I know this explanation sounds a little bit naïve.
I appreciate any response. Thanks!
