TRT and enlarged prostate?

Hey fellas,

Went to the doc today, and had the dreaded finger prostate exam. Doc said that my prostate was a little enlarged. I have been on TRT for a little over a year and a half now. 100 Mgs test cyp once a week protocol. He said its vey common as you get older, but I am only 41. Asking him about Testosterone possibly causing this, his reply was "only if your levels are way above where they should be". The last time I was checked was 6 months ago and I was 650 (5 days after my weekly shot). Now for the couple questions....
1. Could my levels be too high if they are at 650, five days after injection?
2. I have been taking liquid cialis (arr) for around 6 months. I have read that this is good for enlarged prostate .....could my prostate be even more enlarged had I not been taking this? My doc doesn't know that I take this.

My prostate has certainly gotten larger with TRT, but not enough for it to cause me any problems.

I'm dosing with prostate healthy sup's like CoQ10 and cleaning up my diet, it appears to be having an impact.

ITs all about keeping your levels optimal but not superphysiological with high high levels. Ive noticed in my practice with my men who are all kept at healthy levels decreased prostate glands and lower PSA. Its estrogen and DHT thats the culprit here! When levels are too high these 2 have higher conversion and are like a rouge elephant to the prostate.

A 2002 study indicates that testosterone is actually beneficial for the prostate gland in the vast majority of cases. In this study, researchers looked at multiple parameters, including prostate volume, prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels, and lower urinary tract symptoms in a group of men with low or low-normal testosterone levels. Of the 207 men studied, 187 responded favorably to testosterone treatment. These positive responders all showed improvement in almost every parameter measured: their prostate glands all decreased in size, PSA was lower, and urinary symptoms such as frequency, urgency, dribbling, and getting up at night to urinate all improved.

LowT, how would you define an "optimal" level for let's say a 45 year old male? Would you consider 828 (range 280-800) outside of optimal? Not trying to hijack this thread, just trying to understand if slightly outside the high end would be detrimental for the issues the OP asked.

Optimal is really what is right for you. Where are you symptom free? Thats the main goal of TRT optimaize T control E2 and symptomatic relief is the objective. Generally using lab corp...I think the sweet spot for most men is 800-1000 ng/dl. I dont recommend levels upwards over 1300. more E2 conv, elevated hematocrit, lowering of HDL, elevated PSA. Its all about balance.

So as stated in my first post. I was tested at 650, 5 days after injection. Would you think that in the days prior to that, they would have been over the optimal range? I am wondering if I should lower to possibly 80 Mgs of test cyp each week and see if I notice any differences. Thanks in advance.

Honestly your doc should be writing you for cialis, so long as you don't have low BP. Approved by the FDA for BPH.
