Guys who want to have kids

I have ran a total of 4 cycles (not all consecutively) and I would love to run another one as I am getting closer to my goal weight/physique. However im getting closer to that point in my life when I would like to start a family eventually within a few years and it weighs heavily in my mind when I think about running another cycle. Can anyone give me some input on the subject?

Choice is ultimately yours to make but if you are serious about having children then why take unnecessary chances?

Agreed, I know some guys who can not have kids due to steroids and I also know plenty who have had kids while taking steroids, I must confess the is far more who can have kids than not but it is a risk. How old was you when you did your first cycle?

Marcus first "real" cycle was 22... A little early I know but it was done properly (minus being too early) Lunk I really dont want to take the risk but at the same time bodybuilding is a huge part of my life and it will suck having to wait god knows how long till I get the the point in my life when everythings ready to have kids.

I believe the key here is to make sure you have successfully recovered after each of your cycles.

The following should be considered in this regard

    - ensuring proper PCT after each cycle
    - ensuring enough time OFF in between cycles
    - BW in between cycles (mainly to see results for Test, LH, FSH)

And of course, semen analysis would be the definite proof of your fertility.

As I said before. It's a personal decision that, like most, comes with inherent risks. You have to decide what is most important to you and rate your priorities. Then decide if you are willing to take certain risks and willing to accept the consequences that COULD follow. You can hear stories all day long of guys who have had kids while using and after many cycles. You can also, as Marcus pointed out, find stories of guys who can never have children and may have done everything right.

I know this much. If children were a priority to me and BB didn't pay my bills, I would think long and hard!

No guarantees, but hCG on cycle and PCT will better your chances. If that fails, you can look into HMG.

The anecdotes would suggest either of two camps: 1) you run one cycle and forget having kids 2) doesnt matter much, plenty of guys have kids while on cycle. These are obviously two extremes. And of course some people cannot have kids for reasons unrelated to anything AAS could cause. Or maybe your spouse wont be able to conceive? This isnt uncommon and becomes more prevalent with age. I have friends and extended family that cannot.

Excluding the other possibilities listed above of the inability to conceive it starts to become a game theory: if you subscribe to "camp 1" it is too late already (since you have run previous cycles) and so you are no worse off running another. If you subscribe to "camp 2" you are again no worse off running another. However if we reject both camps in favor of an average/mix of them, I would still imagine running another cycle wouldnt be detrimental to child bearing goals as long as one included clomid for many weeks/months post cycle as a safety net.

To be sure we cannot continue to speculate and must go to the data: a fertility test. Freezing inevitably kills some sperm and I believe one needs a very high sperm count for this option to even be feasible given your multi-year time horizon. No idea of the costs or what insurance may or may not cover for later fertilization of your wife.

I thought you just load up an ice cube tray and keep it in the freezer.

Ive done 3 cycles and was worried about being able to have kids as me and wife were about to start trying. She got pregnant our first try. I thought it would take a year or more. Anyways, I always followed proper PCT and always took at least a year off in between cycles and I made sure I wasn't just coming off a cycle when we were about to start trying. It's different for everybody.

You can go to your urologist and get a sperm count test. At least you'd have an idea where you stand. When I had it done it was a little weird but I was good to go. I got a basketball team worth of kids so everything must've worked out.

Yes, don't try counting them on your own. There's a whole bunch of them, plus they're small.
