    Keto vs. Deficit

I'm about two weeks out from cutting, and I want to start planning my diet. I'm going to be 174(give or take a pound) after bulk, and I'm not sure whether or not to just go on a straight caloric-deficit, or if I should try Keto.

What is the difference between the two?

Is one more beneficial than the other?

    Thanks!

Keto with a caloric deficit will, in my experience, have you drop fat way faster. Add in a weekly reefed after 2-3 weeks so you do not stall.

    Thanks

Any dieting approach to fat loss that doesn't employ a caloric deficit is pretty much useless. As such, keto and a deficit aren't comparable; apples and oranges really.

If your TDEE is 2500 calories/day and you're running keto, eating only protein and fats equating to 2500 calories/day, how would you lose fat?

Keto + a deficit (which is what I'm currently doing more or less) would be a good approach, assuming you do well on a higher fat diet.

    I gotcha.

So if I'm 175 lbs, what should my macros look like if I am trying to do a diet like this?

A 7 week bulk them straight into a cut? You're gonna lose pretty much all you gained. What's your height and bodyfat?

If your TDEE is 2500, then you need to shoot for 2000 cals. Keto is zero carb for 5 days or so, which is a tough way to start. I would suggest maybe 50% protein, 30% fats and 20% carbs to start. Not everyone will agree on that, but protein high to keep any muscle gains and carbs low for less energy than normal.

Maybe in a month or so, if you feel the need to try Keto, then go for it then. Just don't ditch carbs cals, as you still need to shoot for 2000 cals on Keto also.

Why is Keto 0 carb for 5 days? Never heard of this. Keto is between 15g - 80g of carbs/day depending on the person.

If you want to have help figuring out your values for Keto this is a great website: Keto Calculator - Learn Your Macros on the Ketogenic Diet

    Thanks

Only carbs on Keto is from green vegs. Refeed or reload on carbs after 5 days.
