I bring it in to listen to music but don't take calls unless I have to (work). When I do I go outside or in the locker room.

My thoughts exactly. Another reason I dont spend much time in the comercial gym. I know if I saw someone set their phone or ipad on a bench I would be too tempted to walk over and drop a dumbbell on it. Wouldn't that just feel great to do???

I used to have a training partner that was constantly on his phone when we would train. I kicked him to the curb and everyone that knows me knows that I never take my phone to the gym with me. I tell them straight up that I will not be disturbed when I am training

I just recently started taking my phone to the gym. I started a new strength workout and need to log my exercises and sets. I just leave the phone on silent.

I keep my training logs on an app that runs on my phone. Maybe I should stop that, I might look uncool using my phone to document my workouts!

^ I log everything this way too.

Yes I look like a teenage girl on my phone after every set, but I don't care at this point.
I'm not going to stop, It's convenient and safe because it's saved remotely.

I came in here to say 'what about those who use phone to log workout, have a timer, etc' but it was said. As much as it would piss me off to find someone dicking around, I am not going to assume he is just cause of a phone. This day and age we use our phones for everything.

I myself have my own home gym and use good ol fashioned paper and pen, but during my rest between sets, you best believe I'm on my phone browsing the forums lol.

I'm not in the gym to try and look cool or keep touch with "friends" online. But, I do use my phone for the music and to log my lifts. Some great apps out there for tracking that are much more convenient than paper.

Arnold may think I am a trendy bitch for having my phone, but I don't care what he thinks either. I'm making gains m****r f****r!!! Just kidding, but I am making gains.

Aren't you afraid of breaking your phone? I leave mine in my locker. I figure if anyone needs to get a hold of me, they can leave a message or a text and I'll get back to them when I'm free. If it's a real emergency, they can call the gym and ask the desk guy to call for me.

If I break my phone I will get a new faster better phone . No fear. I use phone for music. Some times I just put in my earbuds but don't play any music so use phone is a decoy. I don't take calls or text during my workout; that can wait but I do need my iTunes.

I use myfitnesspal for diet. I don't like it to log workouts. It pushes up my calories up so it looks like I can eat more

Looking for the best training log app

GGR, did a little looking into this for you and here's some of what I found that you may want to check out:

(JEFIT Workout) or "Workout Log", "Gymmunity", "Gymgoal", "Gym Buddy" which is $2.99 but looks pretty good.

I use 'Fitness Buddy' to log my workouts.

if I feel like checking my macros the App 'Lose it!' is very handy, you can use barcode scanner to scan food and it loads up the nutritional facts!

Come to think of it, when I go to the gym, everybody isn't all jacked liked in the videos from the 70's and 80's. I mean there are a few guys that are HUGE but most are closer to that pic's "today." It must be that crossfit bullshit. What do the oldtimers here think? Are people on average getting scrawnier at the gym?

I would not necessarily say scrawnier but yes they are not muscular by any means. You will see the same guys month after month or even year after year who are the say size as before, most lust fat, out of shape.

To many go to socialize or as in the video are on their phones the whole time and not really working out.
