Thread: I'm pretty fat and have questions.

I'm pretty fat and have questions.

I work out on a somewhat regular basis but don't eat right so I'm overweight. I'm 5'10" and about 230lbs. Probably around 30% body fat. I was in great shape in the Army but got out in 2007 and got fat. If I started a cycle would it be better to get my body fat down first or does it matter. It would actually be great if it would help. I do lift but my diet is crap. I realize that I will need to correct this to get the results I want. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

That is the first thing you need to work on. Steroids should NEVER be used solely to loose fat. You need a life style change first before you could even consider using AAS. Check out the nutrition thread, lots of good info in there. FYI, steroids while having a high body fat % can lead to unwanted estrogenic side effects.

^^^Great advice. Additionally, with higher body fat, risks for high cholesterol (hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia) and hypertension are much greater. Minimize your risks. Bring the body fat closer to 15% before introducing anabolic compounds.

I'm pretty sure everybody will tell you to drop to at least 14 percent. And you shouldn't even consider juice until your diet and workout routine are locked it and you live by it. Your only asking for a world of side effects with such a high bf... Well those are just my 2 cents, maybe another member has some better info.

I guess y'all just confirmed what I already thought. Thanks for the info. I guess it's boneless skinless chicken breast and salad for lunch today.

Close to 90% of fitness outcomes are determined by diet. Planning and committing to a nutrition program isn't always easy. Many of us have been there. Most nutrition plans to cut bf are bland and boring IMO, but results are obtainable if you stay committed and focus on long term goals. An occasional "cheat meal" helps keep you motivated to achieve your goals as well.

Use our nutrition subforum to solicit feedback about your nutrition. Even if you already have insight, the guys there can be very helpful in tweaking the fine points in your nutrition plan to optimize results.

Don't forget your aerobic exercise (cardio). It strengthens the most important muscle in your body (your heart!) and with a proper diet, you should be able to reduce your bf sooner.

    Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I'll get over to the nutrition forum and see what kind of advice I can get. Thanks!

It still blows my mind how much diet is everything. If my diet is slacking for as little as a couple days I notice it. Everyones genetics are different but when it comes down to it, you are what you eat.

Very sound advice all around. The guys that post frequently to the nutrition forum are extremely helpful. Do a little studying, especially reading the stickies, and work up a diet for yourself. Then post it and ask for pointers. If you put forth the initial effort, I can guarantee that you that you will get very positive feedback. Good luck - I think we can all agree that a consistent diet is the toughest part of this stuff.
