    cooking vegetables

    Hi all,

What's the best way to cook brocoli or vegetables in general in order to keep most of its benefits ?

I can't steam them over boiling water cos I don't have the material to do that and I can't find this stuff where I live.

So I have boiled water, microwave or fried in pan ...

    Please advise what's best

    Thanks

bed bath and beyond sells a veggie steamer that fits inside of your pot. I'm sure walmart and target would sell it too, are you from mars?? lol. I like to put them in a foil pouch with a little EVOO and some spices and put them in the oven until they are still slightly crunchy

I like them roasted in the oven - just salt and a little oil. ;EVOO is good, but almond or walnut oil is superb!

You can boil water but you cant steam them ?

I steam all my veg, and then drink the water after

Steaming is apparently the best for some things like kale/broccoli

The absolute best method for trapping in the most nutrients is to put them in a zip lock back and microwave them for 1 min depending on microwave

Yeah just steam in microwave. 1/2"of water in container , cover with plastic wrap and poke a fork through center making 4 small vent holes Cook for 5-8 mins. I buy the steam in bag veggies aand microwave them. They go on sale for a buck a bag or even 88 cents aa bag and super easy man just throw in microwave for 7 1/2 minute. boom
