Woman and anivar and birth control pills

    Good morning,
I'm starting a cycle of Var (5 mg twice a day), and was wondering if I should stop taking my birth control pills? I've seen that posted before (I think), but I'm not sure for what reason? I only take them to control (avoid) my cycle as getting pregnant is not possible (both myself and boyfriend are "fixed". Thank you!

The var itself should halt or at least interfere with your menstrual cycle. But you'll probably still get some spotting without your bc pills.

Thank you, but I guess what I need to know is do I need to stop taking the BC's? If so, why? Does anyone know the facts to this?

No, you should not. Keep the cycle short (6 wks) and the dosage at 20mg or less. There could be some dose dependent changes in circulating estrogen but should not cause problems for short term use. If pregnancy is a concern during the duration of use, a second barrier method of prevention would be advised.

My wife has cycled 10 and 25mg doses (separately) concurrent with her oral BC. At the 25mg dose her menstrual cycle had a delayed onset and longer duration that corrected once the cycle ended.

Thank you very much. I'll keep up the BC's for cycle control, and end my var cycle after 6 weeks. Last yr I ran it for 12 weeks and had some negative side effects (adrenal gland got totally out of whack, which caused major water retention "moon face" appearance).
