Why donate plasma? Doesn't it put you red blood cells back in your body? Defeats the purpose doesn't it? Just do a whole blood draw.
That's what i feared. compisation for my time
thanks
because you get 50 bucks lol, and you can go 3 times per week.
you can get 150 a week for donating plasma? er... why is plasma in such high demand v whole blood?
are you sure it is not 'platelet' that you are donating? instead of plasma?
For the location I go to.
First 4 Visits: $40, $50, $40, $35, in that order.
Thereafter: $20 for first visit of the week, $30 for second (if you only go once a week, you only get $20 every time)
Donating plasma has no positive health benefits. It is purely for money, since pharmaceutical companies pay for plasma to do drug R&D with, but blood donations cannot be financially compensated.
you can use the plasma to develop fresh frozen plasma (FFP), it's mainly for emergency to help clotting.
But most places get the plasma from the whole blood donation anyway, you will get the packed red cells, FFP and platelet from one single blood donation.
platelet being the most expensive
depending on the plasma you donated, it may increase your haematocrit and haemoglobin concentration. not a good thing if you are on TRT or AAS
platelet costs around £500-£600 per bag.
It's good to donate blood. but the word donate means no financial returns, it is done for the greater good....but when blood supple is scarce...sometimes they do give financial rewards to increase attendance...
