Eating 1 Hour after Working Out

The old rule is eat and/or consume Protein within a half hour post workout.

I just watched this video where they recommend waiting at least an hour post workout.

This is supposed to maximally use up all of the HGH your body produces naturally from working out because if you eat too soon after it will cause an increase in Insulin that will suppress the natural HGH produced.

    Thoughts??

    Thanks!!

    Interesting.

I've read various alternative theories' about the alleged 'window of opportunity', but I just can't help but guzzle my protein shake immediately after training. I honestly wouldn't feel comfortable waiting a hour afterwards before I consumed any protein.

Yeah, I'm on the fence on this. I would think you would want all the nutrients you can get right after you workout to repair muscle.

If you manage to your macros, you'll find all these gritty little details really don't mean much. If you are eating your (aprox) 300 grams of protein a day, you'll come to realize your body is ALWAYS metabolizing protein. This anabolic window, or are you calling it the HGH window, really doesn't mean too much. For example, egg protein metabolizes out in 4 to 6 hours.

Don't get blinded by all these details. Manage to your macros, train to your limit, get plenty of rest, and you will see results.

    good luck!
