    4th Week of Cut

    Hi everyone,

    I stared a cut about 5 weeks ago at 182 guestimate 18 - 22% bodyfat.

Played around with my calories for the first two weeks just to make sure what my maintenance was.

First Week: 2300 calories Weight Loss: 0

Second Week 2000 Calories Weight Loss: 1 lb - NOW 181lbs

Third Week 1600 Calories Weight Loss: 4 lb - NOW 177lbs

    Fourth Week 1600 - 1700 Calories Weight Loss: +1 gained a pound at 178lbs.

Current Macro Split is as follows:
    1700 Calories
    Fats 47
    Carbs: 149
    Protein: 170

Currently on a 4 days on 1 day off weight training split as well as 4 days of cardio a week (Incline at 4 mph for 30 mins on non-training day and 20 minutes on training days)

My question is, why would I gain a pound this week? I feel leaner though I admit have not been taking measurements but definitely feel jeans are easier to put on.

I am also a type 1 diabetic and need insulin with every meal with carbs for that reason I try to keep my carbs low because of the insulin.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

it could have been just some water weight. are you weighing yourself in the same conditions every week?

Yes, my weigh ins are under the same conditions once a week.

To be honest, I have noticed the fat losses. I know I am dropping BF not extremely fast but at a slow steady pace.

The only thing I can come up with is the insulin. I am a type 1 Diabetic and I take less Insulin per day than many of the non-diabetics in this forum who use it for the bulking benefits.

The reason I point to insulin is because I have been on a significantly low carb diet the past few weeks and I am hitting PR's at a very rapid rate. I honestly feel like I am gaining muscle while on a cut.

It has to be the insulin which is fueling flooding protein to the muscle. Hence weight is staying the same but BF is dropping.

you don't want to drop BF too fast, 1-2 lbs a week is good. how has your blood glucose been with eating low carbs?

BG levels have been great as close to normal as possible. I have had to drop the amount of long lasting slin I use daily because they were continuously low even without my rapid acting insulin.

I have become so sensitive to slin on this low card diet that I am using a ration of about 20 carbs to 1 Unit of slin which is very low.

i honestly do not think your carbs are too low at 149g. low is more like 50g or below.
