Needing to switch from Whey Protein Powder to.....???

It seems I'm slowly becoming more and more lactose intolerant.

Last night was an eye opener.

2 scoops of whey isolate and 2 cups of milk in the shaker cup. Plus some Lactaid, Beano, and some gas relief. I thought I covered all the bases.

    I was wrong!

Horrible gas, plus some really bad burping all last night, and the burping continues today.

I think I need to 100% get off all milk based products, including the whey based protein powder.

But I still need protein powder to help fill in the cracks in my macros at the end of the day.

I'm thinking egg white protein powder is the way to go.

But I need to find at or around 4 cents a gram of protein, else I can just drink the liquid egg white from Costco.

I'll start my research, but if anyone has a link to some good egg white protein powder at an economical price?

    Much obliged
    ---Roman

If that's what you gotta do then so be it. Good price. I pay about $45 for my whey. How quickly is the absorption compared to whey?

it's egg white, so it's naturally slow burning...........

yeah, I gotta pull the trigger and eliminate all milk/lactose based products. this gas/burping is too much to handle.

Can't you take those lactose pills that lactose intolerant ppl take when they want dairy products? I've got no experience with them personally but others swear by them

    I just did the math

    $18
    1/4cup = serving size
    27 servings
    = $0.67 per serving
    yields 16 grams of protein
= $0.042 per gram of protein

    this is economically feasible!

I alternate between egg white.protein and whey protein isolate. Honestly, egg white protein gives me terminal flatulence. I've literally cleared out the machine shop and half of the electro-mech shop before whilst under the influence of egg white protein.

maybe i'll just start off with the 1.2pounds of the powder and see how it goes. didn't know it too was gaseous for some people. Damn.........
......if I'm the same way, maybe i'll just stick with the liquid egg whites

I wish it were that simple.

    I regularly take three things:
    -lactaid
    -beano
    -gas relief (a tab)

and I can't tell if these items have no impact when I consume milk products, or if there is only a slight benefit.

gram for gram, it is more expensive than whey powder. But if the eggs work, then I'm sold.

For egg white protein, this is what I've taken in the past and have enjoyed it. Liquid form and keeps in your fridge. Just put it right in my blender with everything else. I was mixing it with a scoop of whey at the time.

I can get the liquid eggwhite at Costco at about 4 cents a gram of protein. How does what you suggest compare?

No idea. Not too tight for cash so I never calculated all that out but I have seen this on bodybuilding.com now.

I was buying it at the time from a local competitor's store so it was probably more expensive...

    Tr, ever tried lactaid?

I can't drink milk, or eat ice cream. Those are the only two lactose based things I can't have (which sucks).

I bought the lactaid milk, which is plain milk with their enzyme added. I have 0 problems.

They sell tabs that are supposed to work the same way

I don't drink much milk out of the glass, and there for awhile, I'd add it to my shaker cup.

I could try it, but it's twice the price of regular milk.

    ---yes, I'm a cheap bastad!

For a while I got off milk, including whey. I purchased some hemp protein powder and some beef isolate. The beef isolate was slightly salty and didn't tastes as good with most shake mixtures, the hemp tasted better and was easiest on the gut, but didn't digest fully, think green sand in your stool. I've done no protein supplement's in the past as well, and yes it is much harder to get adequate protein, but it is doable.

Sorry, I meant that they make tablets you can take with anything, supposed to be the same thing they put in their milk.

Try the whey isolate without milk. usually lactose intolerant people can drink isolate just fine.

whey is made out of milk. doesn't matter if I add milk to a milk product.

    It still makes me fart.

    But farts are fun....
    ....it's shit without the mess!

haven't tried it. the egg white protein powder seems to be working. But now that I've been using the blender a lot, haven't even been using that too much. It's weird the shit I throw in the blender.

    Typical:
    12.5 oz chicken breast
    16 ounces liquid egg whites
    some veggie or fruit
    1/2 cup oats; raw

doesn't taste so good, but it saves all that wear and tear on the teeth with unnecessary chewing!

I understand that, but typically people with lactose issues can drink isolate fine. Clearly that isn't the case. I guess it's more chicken for you, sir!

I don't eat it because it tastes good. if that were the case, I wouldn't eat half the shit I do.

you're ok with the link. just no links to other bulletin boards or anything conflicting with our sponsors. I'm sure you understand.

I think I'm off the protein powder for awhile. liquid egg whites seems to be doing well by me for now.............
