    customs and powders

has anyone of you experience with sending powders to UK as sea freight with a container?
I mean with an Chinese ore maybe UK forwarding company which provide also shared container load for customers with small parcels.

The shipping with the air couriers has become a problem because of the stricter customs.
That i must wait more than maybe 14 days longer for the parcel is not the problem, the most important for me is the sucessfull delivery.

If there is anyone with experience please let me know- also with PM.

I haven't experienced sea freight shipments but no matter how you try and bring stuff in there is still a huge chance of it being seized by customs, they check everything or at least a large number of things coming into the country. I find air couriers the best but split the parcels up and if you have a good relationship with your source they will put the products into vitamin/ supplement tubs which show something completely different than.

There are two places which ship from Europe. WARNING - I HAVEN'T CHECKED THESE OUT YET! I've got an order from both of them which should arrive next week. The one ships from Holland, the other from Cyprus. Both are in The EU, so they don't go near Customs, just the same as when you drive across borders.

I don't think it's allowed to post the URLS on here, but you should be able to PM me

they do check goods/parcels coming in from other EU country's. My friend works for them and if you check under the ref HMRC Reference:Notice 143 (February 2014) A guide for international post users section 4.1 it states 4.1

Are there customs controls on goods from the EU?
The Border Force carry out selective checks to ensure that no prohibited goods such as drugs, indecent or obscene material, weapons etc, are received in the UK from other EU countries. The Border Force also carry out routine controls for revenue purposes. However, because goods from the ‘Special Territories’, that is, countries who are not included in the fiscal territory of the EU (see paragraph 4.3), are subject to excise duty and import VAT, they are processed in the same way as goods imported from outside the EU.

Yes but it always depends on the ammount, smaller ammounts are better to hide if sending with airmail, using other names for it and so on.

But a littel bigger ammounts are maybe better to hide if they are in a container under thousands of parcels and the customs clear the whole container just with processing the paperwork and not search ore x-ray every single of them.

the second part is the more a question than statement

Yes they do check but if its full of packages and you split them up your chances are better. They don't check every single thing but they do exam because the containers are the most common practise for class A's to be brought into the country. Bets of luck

I've brought a lot of gear in through customs, into the U.S. Hey, I've lost some but got most of 'em. You win some lose some. It's all part of the game.

    absolutely right,
but if i have the chance to minimize the lost at customs with using a strategy like sea freight which arrives maybe 3 weeks later at my destination than air freight but safe then i try to use this way.

I like to play the game but try also to think a step ahead.
