Any UPS workers out there?

Do people ever start out as package delivery drivers or do you work up to it like being a dock worker first or something?
I'm not talking about people who drive trailers.

I saw the appearance guideline said no beards. Is that no facial hair period or just no all out beard? I hate childish military standards.

Here in AZ, it's all about who you know. I tried to get in, but the only way in is to be a part time dock hand for about 2-5 years.

That sucks. Who has those many years to spare as a part time guy when you could be pursuing a more for sure career.

Not spending those years working a second job at target or walmart for something that isn't a sure thing. Man I saw a job post on their site then realized later it was temporary. I was happy for no reason. I would look really cool in that uniform to. Second thought my current job would let me work part time while working UPS. Maybe there is hope.

isn't that something. and our postman here looks like some burnt out kind of hippie from the sixties, with all gray hair, long pony tail, shirt pulled out. But he's quiet and doesn't fvck up the mail too much. You can always tell when he goes on vacation because his backup does fvck up the mail. It's embarrassing when my subscription to Hustler Magazine goes to the little old lady across the street, and I have to go banging on her door asking her if she's seen my Fvck Book?

Ha, I have turned into the part time UPS driver. I get quite a bit of UPS from Amazon. For some reason they seem to leave me an extra package or two almost weekly. I typically just take it to the resident since it's usually only a few blocks from me. I have had some funny looks from people as I explain it was left at my house and I'm just delivering it for them. Hopefully it will do a little play it forward in some cases.

Have you ever been to a UPS transfer station? I was once and watched all these trucks unloading their packages onto a conveyer belt. I did not see one package that was lifted and set down. EVERY box was either kicked, pushed or thrown out the back and I hear plenty of glass breakage. I watched for a good 10 minutes before someone noticed me and told me I could not be there. lol

LoL that was a joke. I said that because how often they leave me the wrong package and I end up delivering it because im a nice guy.

Hmmmm I wonder what I would do if it was a package from China????
