    Dishwasher etiquette

I'm just curious if I'm one of the few that realize the dishwasher has a functional design to it?

I have had to teach most everyone I have been with how to properly load the dishwasher. I have seen very few people who do it correctly.

I swear by doing it per design you can get twice as much in and it comes out cleaner. Bowels all go in one place. Cups, saucers and dishes all have their own spot.

It's easier to load and unload as well. Not a big deal but I'm just curious how many people just throw them in vs in order?

I load the rear first so I don't have to pull the drawer out to load over the stuff in the front.

    That's all I got. Lol.

Its more efficient. I live alone and I cook my food when I'm ready to eat. Cleaning up 6 times a day is not how i want to live my life. Am i different than my neighbors? I don't understand the question? Different how? My neighbors are old like 40. One of them is a dentist.

Why not eat over the sink?

Do u live differently then your neighbors? Is everyone eating on paper plates? Is that normal? For ex it is normal for Mexicans to throw trash out the window. You'll see trash everywhere along the roads. That's not normal in the U.S.

No i suppose its not normal. I live in a decent european white area. Surrounded by I think there called professionals. I have a royal doulton dinner set that i use if i have a mate or associate or my nephew at my house. Eating over the sink? I could do that i suppose but ill stick to my disposable plates. Im not one of those people that cook food then take hours to eat it because they eat like a sloth. I cook it and basically just spoon it down my throat to get it over with.

Those disposable plates are nothing but land fill and unkind to nature. But it your country. Carry on.

Sorry lovbytes. I have to ask euro one last question. Are you gay? No girls ever come over to your place? I thought mate means man friend indicating gender specific.

Its paper? Could not be any worse to the environment then running a dishwasher? No i don't lift shirts. I try not to bring birds around i don't want them knowing where i live incase they think they can hitch them selfs to my wagon. The word Mate has no gender. I understand you united states of americans do not use it.

My dishwahers just either do a good job or they don't get an allowance. I don't care if they do bowls, plates or silverware first as long as it's done by the time I get home. Seriously, we have no electric dishwasher right now.

Your wife and I would get along. I do the same thing.

Everything is for the most part clean when I or we put it in also and always run short or economy wash.

I can't stand it when my GF loads the dishwasher. We have a crappy dishwasher so you have to rinse everything off before hand (I've always done it that way even with a good one). She leaves food stuck on everything. She puts things over things like a bowl inside a pot. Big starving spoons upside right so they can hold water. Tupperware tops laying flat with other stuff on top. And she wonders why things don't get cleaned. It drives me nuts!! If your not going to load it right. Why bother doing it. It's not going to wash right and you'll have to do it again!!

Hmmmm dishes are always rinsed till clean but I still run normal and heat. Maybe I should rethink this cycle selection.

I got one of these to do my dishes.

I try and load her through the REAR..but sometimes she resists (dayum it).

Sometimes Requires a Few Slaps in the Arse...but then, opens RIGHT Up.

And is there a method to your madness when loading the dishwasher?

I agree lb. Everything does have a place.

I use paper plates for some meals. And yes, it's because I'm lazy. I'd rather spend that time doing other things then dishes.

You know it really is designed a specific way to get dishes, bowels and glasses the cleanest and to fit more.

We have some house guest (5 Filipino women) and one did the dishes the other day loading the dishwasher. It was full and we still had several dishes and glasses left. After she was done I re loaded it and easily fit everything.

It's sort of like washing just a few towels or a couple pair of jeans instead of a full load. Wasteful.

Am I the only one that pictures lovbyts washer looking like this when he is done? Also, when he finishes it sounds like the principal from The Breakfast Club. "Next time I have to come in here and show you, I'm cracking Skulls!!"

Not a bad example except mine has a place for bowls and saucers up top.

Damn, wish I had one with a spot for bowls and saucers on top. I like bowls and saucers.

Damn kids would put them on the bottom between two pots so prewash wouldn't hit them at all.

It depends on how big they are. Most will go where the bowls on top go if not down below just make you dont use the heat dry or they may melt. Ive done that

This is what I figure most peoples dishwasher look like.

This is pretty much what mine looks like.

I just saw this and I LIKE this for the silverware. Hmmm How can I incorporate this???

When I was on my own I was neater than now. It's so much easier to be organized when you are alone.

I have a little OCT and that combined with ADD is a bad mix. When I start cleaning or organizing I go overboard but also jump from one thing to another.

Lol I am the same when it comes to tidying the place its immaculate ha. But the dishwasher is used just as a means to an end and I lived for years without any so hate washing up with a distinct passion lol.

I had a house cleaner to come out and do basic cleaning every 2 weeks because again i knew if I got started it would take me all day and I would never get done. She said I was her favorite customer because she always new what to expect and how long it would take because it was always exactly the same and clean.

She said several of her other customers (besides the typical slobs) would purposly trash the house the day before just so she had extra work. WTF??? People are such aholes.

My Miele has that cutlery rack, and we lay the knives, forks and spoons so that each are together and it makes it very easy and quick to unload, just like the photo.

I can imagine it does. I put all my knives, forks and spoons in separate holders for the same reason but I like that design pictures.
