    Is insulin OTC in USA?

Hey guys. Finally in the USA for my holiday. Checked out your CVS your Walgreen's and plenty of food places. One thing I want to know tho. Is insulin otc in the USA? Right now I'm residing in San Francisco till sat then new York then Vegas then LA. Is it OTC in all those States? From what I can see its only otc at Walmart and not CVS nor Walgreen's? Reason I'm asking is my dad I's diabetic so if he forgets or something it would come in handy to know so

    San Fran OTC?
    New York OTC?
    Las Vegas OTC?
    LA? OTC?

Also is there only certain types otc? Fast acting? Slow acting etc?

    Thanks for your help

Its not just a seroid forum. Its main focus is on steroids but it has multiple sections that are not specifically steroid related. I only posted in here because the insulin and GH section barely seem to get any replies . but if this is an issue. Admin feel free to move it to that section. Only posted here because it gets lots of traffic.

Why would people not be able to help? I'n the trt section people discuss the best prices/coupons for vials of test and that require a script. Where as it seems insulin may be a little more leniant so I'm sure it can be discussed if the best prices of vials are allowed LOL.

No I haven't because I'm not familiar with this country and its more comfortable asking on here. I'd you ever come to AUS and are unsure about things in my country I'd be more than happy to help mate. Cheers.

i tried searching the websites in the usa for you, but cant find any insulin on the websites for ordering- in australia you definitely need a prescription so im assuming USA might be the same... whats your nearest pharmacy there in the US- i can try sending them an email and get back to you once they respond.

    update:

insulin is widely available in all markets around the world. It can be purchased from the pharmacy or on the black market. You will need a prescription for some forms in the U.S. but in most places around the world including the U.S. Humulin-R is sold right over the counter, and it probably always will be. Requiring a prescription for Humulin-R could prove detrimental to diabetic patients who are in a pinch and need insulin right away. You will also find this hormone is extremely cheap and counterfeits, while possible, are virtually unheard of.

You will have no problem getting it at any pharmacy but the price has increased dramatically in the last 2 years. Attached is a link to a medication coupon site.

    Here's the deal:

R or 70/30 (R/N) is available OTC in the USA.
Both were $23 for a 1000iu vial at WalMart last time I purchased.

stuff like lantus and log are script only
