My cats were pretty chill. Never bit me or scratched me. When I was a kid my grandma's cats would but that's because I would harass them; Put em in a bag, tie shit to their tail, that kind of stuff.Mostly being silly

The best thing about cats is that they're not like dogs: They don't need to be taken out to shit or piss, they don't stare at you and beg for food, they are clean and smell good, they don't slobber everywhere, they don't beg you for attention as much as dogs, they can be outside on their own, you can leave them home for days at a time/weeks at a time if someone can replace their food and water once a week. They also kill insects or rodents around your house. Dogs are constant work, they carry their food around the house, they can ruin furniture. I would much rather have a cat than a dog at this point in my life. Right now I have no animals, which is great... my house is clean, smells fresh, and I don't have fur or dander everywhere.
Dogs are cool, too... I had a dog with my ex. I never had to teach a cat how to shit lol. He was frustrating for a while. Dogs are like babies, so much work.

I like fish too. I was only allowed to have fish and birds as a kid, so I didn't have cats and dogs till I was out on my own. I had a couple of tanks with african cichlids for years. Before that regular freshwater: swordtails, mollies, guppies, gourami, betas, zebra danios, etc. I was ready to pull the trigger on a 150 gallon saltwater setup a few months ago, but kinda glad I didn't (yet). Saltwater seems like a full time job.

Today I put a big goldfish in with two axolotls. They're fighting a little bit but seem to be calming down.
