    Guess what time it is?

Those who know me may remember since I have been here I have had SEVERAL eye surgeries on my right eye. Ill probably have a couple more before Im gone.

Ive also had 2 back surgeries, L3 & L4 herniated and L5/S1 ruptured 2 years later.

I have also had arthroscopic 2x on the left shoulder that didnt help much and then a full replacement that failed due to the rotator cuff tendon and bicep coming detached and finally another full replacement 4/11/2021 that is so far so good.

Guess what time it is? Time for a full replacement on the right shoulder 12/30/2021. The fun never ends.

Im more excited about this one because it means after its "healed" I should not have massive pain in the shoulders and I can start working out again. Yes very lightly but it will be better than nothing like it has been the last several years.

Ouch, I’m due for a total shoulder in my right after a couple of SLAP repairs and am down to zero cartilage. Let me know how it goes, nothing easy about that surgery. I’ve heard it usually ends up bilateral so I’m not surprised to hear that.

I’ve been bone on bone for years and it wakes me up every single night to remind me.

Will be thinking about you and wishing you the best!!

I had the left side done already and its feeling great compared to before. I can sleep on it, sort of but I have a lot of muscle and strength loss because it failed the first time 2 years ago. DONT do anything with it for the first couple of months. Only assisted ROM. Do do anything on your own. The 2nd time I didnt even do PT until 3 months later, only assisted ROM

Im not worried about this one since I know what not to do. Last time it was only a few weeks after getting married so I was a little more active than I should have been.

I'm sure you've heard this but muscle memory helps. I had to stop all pressing movements or 2 years from distal clavical osteolysis. That sucked but I slowly worked my way past the point of when I stopped. Are you thinking about BPC 157, TB 500, or anything else to help with healing? I've had good results with BPC.

So just what can you do know with the left shoulder? Appreciate it, mine is inevitable. Hips are a breeze, shoulders not so much.

I don't know about hips being a breeze, but they're not as bad as you would think. My dad had one side done earlier this year and he's back to 100% function. Within a couple of days after the surgery he was walking without the walker. He experienced some stiffness in certain positions, but persisted and continued using the joint, walking, etc. He had his scan a few weeks ago and they said it appears the bone and metal have merged, and I'm sure the movement has helped.

lovbyts, wish you all the success with the surgery.

Just from my experience & because both of us have seen so many. You get a good surgeon who does a lot of these and if you aren’t grossly overweight to start with, getting back on your feet and walking with a cane happens very quickly. Should have immediate pain relief and post-op pain really is not an issue. You do have some ROM precautions & you shouldn’t drive if it’s your right leg or if you have a manual transmission, left leg as well for several weeks. I personally chose to do less with my total hips to make them last, but running and skiing can be done (but not the best of ideas). There currently is a young NBA player trying to resume his career after a THR.

In my experience you have to try and mess up the surgery and many times it’s because you try to do too much and often times too soon. Or you just blatantly don’t follow precautions. It’s really understandable because you really feel great, very quickly so it’s deceiving.

Man, I’ve had some wicked falls and a motorcycle accident and still those things are intact. However, my guardian angel told me to count my blessings & not to push her further.

Good to know. My right hip irritates me ever since moving and carrying to many boxes up and down steps for weeks. Started with a cortisone shot in the IT Band then in the joint. It helped somewhat but there's still some irritation there now and then. I've lessened the frequency of squats as well as the weight and it's helped my hip and my knees actually. I did call my ortho today to arrange a Zilretta shot this time to see if I can get rid of the last bit of irritation. It's not normally used in hips so he can't provide it but he said if he calls it in to my pharmacy I can then bring it in to him and he'll inject. Good man! So, he'll be calling it in on Monday for me.

ps: So far I haven't fallen off the Road Glide yet....

Supposedly I can do most anything without worry of damage within reason but its Weak especially in lifting vertical 90 deg from the body. I could do a lot more but Ive been lazy since I knew my right side was going soon.

Yeah more or less. Deductibles are paid for this year so no big bill for new years and just in case this covid crap end up costing me my job I will still have insurance through the company either way until December 31st.

I agree. The doctors I have spoken to say its pretty much like assembly work anymore for the hips. I have a friend who had both her hips replaced within a couple months of each other and she ran her first marathon 90 days later.

After you have replacement surgery, are you ever going to be able to train heavy again? Or is the risk of damaging it too great to ever do that again?

Who know for sure but then what is heavy anymore and when its completely healed I am going to be in my early 60s so??? Ive pretty much given up on making 20" arms but I was close, a little over 19 so if I reached 18 again I would be happy with a 30"-32" waist I dont like the thick look.

Exactly what I’m fighting to maintain

    It’s a battle for sure

Right under 19” on the bi’s, 31.5” on the waist

This week def didn’t help. Lol

Just to add, I meet so many people - met a guy the other day, ex juicer - did everything wrong - 57, looks like a beat down 67. Met another one - 56, guy looks like he’s 42(we talked about how to keep ourselves intact for an hour), another - 61, Geez man, looked like he was a great 45, started juice when he was 40 - guy was askin my wife if she had single friends < wow!

Another - 61, never touched juice, all natural, active fella - had a limp from getting hit by a car, sharp as a tack

A fellow brain damage guy, who was put together at the same place I was - 56, 10+ years ago he was hit by a vehicle while on his motorcycle, lost everything, wife left, had too many deficits to keep going as an engineer - this is the best he has felt since the accident that caused a severe skull fracture. He’s ready to get on a motorcycle again - looked to be about a hard 65

I can keep going - these are the ones that stood out the most

Yeah 50 is right around the age where it can go either way. You either start to look OLD or you look good/rugged. Im getting lucky so far and even as long as it has been that I have not been able to work out due to injuries I still look pretty decent and better than most in a tank top. Not nearly as good shirtless though. lol Hopefully it wont be long now and Ill get back to the point when Im not so self conscious about going shirtless either.

I'm thankful for my family genetics as well as mentally overcoming a lot of situations that a lot of people would have probably just given up or let it drag them down and turned to substance abuse most likely. I also give some credit to this forum for that reading other peoples post over the years such as yours and many others who have faced hardship and challenges and kept going without it aging me an extra 20 years, yet. lol

I had rotar cuff/scope on my right, should have been full replacement it’s worst post surgery and they couldn’t reattach bi because tendon was damaged over time. Need left replaced and bi is half torn off. Just had left hip done 3 weeks ago, not bad at all but recovery is hindered because I destroyed my stomach with nsaids and pain pills. No iron absorption so I’m anemic.

Lov, how was recovery from your second replacement compared to the normal scope surgery?

Recovery the first time sucked. Never really did since the bicep and rotator cuff tendon came detached. The 2nd time around I would have to say it was easier than the scope surgery because there was a lot less pain right away but a lot more weakness and that still has a way to go.

Yeah I wish I would have just listened to the doctor and gone with the replacement the first time. Id be long done by now. I had the left side scope 2x.

It’s tough to pay for bad decisions like that. I have more pain after then before. Crazy I have the same shit as you but I’m a replacement behind, well I have a hip done I have to wait at least a year before another surgery just trying to get back to work this Monday but I think I actually have to reapply for my position.

We’re they able to repair your bi? Said I need a pig tendon attached in my shoulder then graphed onto my bi.

Just walking right now. Doctor wants no other exercises or to much stretching. I feeling good and walking about a mile. Rest of my body isn’t happy, can’t believe how sore and tired I am after walks. Still anemic though which sucks and for some reason my uro said no to an infusion. Seeing gi doc in December to figure out my stomach/intestines, I believe that’s the issue.

Yeah bicep and rotator cuff tendons repaired. I told him to put a few extra staples in it this time and he agreed. He said it wasnt ripped 100% like he had though and if it was Only the bicep he would not have fixed it but there was to much pain from not doing the cup the first time also, it was metal on bone but didnt work out.

He is happy and surprised how much movement I have. He though it would be a lot less due to having to tighten things up.

Thats life, or at least it is for me it seems.

I had my pre opp today. I had a couple doctors/nurses ask if my left are was strong enough and if I had good enough ROM to rely on it solely since my surgery was only a few months ago. They were really surprised how much of a ROM (99% normal) and the strength it has already. There are a few areas that I have practically no strength but it will come back quickly now that I have to rely on it. I need to work on some of my lifting and reaching because other parts of the body want to compensate and the shoulder raises to much, not using enough scapula.

The more you talk about over tightening I’m starting to think that’s the issue I’m having with my right cuff. He did mention something about it being very tight because it was detached for so long.

Everything was impossible until somebody did it!

    I've got 99 problems......but my squat/dead ain't one !!

It doesnt matter how good looking she is, some where, some one is tired of her shit.

Light travels faster then sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

Great place to start researching ! http://forums.steroid.com/anabolic-s...-database.html

Bikram yoga is good. They do it in a hot steamy room. Really relaxes the muscles and joints.

I was thinking the same thing because like most I never did stretch enough. Its important not to only stretch before but during and after weight lifting IMO but I never have been good at following my own rule.

Yeah we have what is called HOT Yoga around here but I can bring myself to be in the same room with a bunch of fat sweaty people in to tight of yoga pants. its hard enough going to the gym and trying not to look at all the people doing everything wrong or sitting on a machine while texting 10x longer than they are lifting if they are lifting at all.
