5mg of melatonin is used in blind patients to normalize help their circadian rhythm. also, doses of up to 75mg have been studied in patients with chronic insomnia. I haven't had a chance to read that study so I don't know if the patients had an increased risk of side effects. But I would say upping your dose to 5 or 6mg should be fine. just make sure you watch for any side effects such as confusion, dysphoria, and tachycardia.Originally Posted by Klossus
flaxseed oil has antiinflammatory and anti-clotting properties. i believe there was also a study showing improved insulin sensitivity with flaxseed supplementation. consuming the seeds may decrease cholesterol levels.
Try increasing it by intervals, first to 6mg, then to 9mg if necessary. Check your diets for any stimulants prior to sleep that you may be taking in. Flaxseed oil is used primarily by bodybuilders as an EFA (Essential Fatty Acid), and aids is essentially a "fat that helps you lose fat". It is commonly used in cutting diets.
I wouldn't go higher than 3mg's. It has some weird side effects. Such as inhibiting your ability to drive, etc... It's not meant to PUT you to sleep, just to help you GET to sleep. Just take 3mg at bedtime.
