Anyone from louisiana?

Hey friends! I'm planning on moving from the land of misfortune and broken dreams (canada) to the land of opportunity (usa) I'm thinking of taking up residense in good ole louisiana...I'm not sure where the best place or affordable place would be...I'm thinking close to the ocean would be nice because i'll be working off the gulf on the oil rigs!...but I wouldn't mind being near the mississippi river either...any suggestions?..Where is your music industry, if any at all?

Any input would be appreciated!

hey...In Maxim's 50 states battle...Louisiana kicked all of your a$$es...I live in Lake Charles...it's in the southwest corner right by the border of texas and less then an hour from the gulf...it's a nice town...big enough that not every one knows your business...and we are about to have a huge resort open here...and we have river boat gambling...hence ...water.....baton rouge is really pretty...a college town mainly... new orleans has a personality all it's own..people come from all over the world to come to bourbon street and the french quarter...constant street parties and fabulous food...the architecture there is amazing...and it has some really nice suburbs...got any more questions feel free to pm me...there are plenty of ****ty towns here...you just have to pick the right one...you can make anyplace home...long as it has a gym...lol

Mallet Lake Charles isnt too bad, I used to go through there headed to the Gulf when I worked offshore. Close enough to Texas so you can run get a beach fix, and a whole lot closer to Mexico.

Yeah Mamou is a crazy party the night before mardi gras(what happens in mamou stays in mamou)...otherwise it's a **** town...it's not really a bad place...although...like i said...baton rouge has it's high points....and certain areas outside of new orleans are really nice...close to the big easy...but without the craziness...and the cost of living around here is reasonable...especially if you already have a good job set up....and there's some really hot southern girls you'll come across here and there....if that matters to you...don't know your story...hope that helps...xxxSass

i miss LA and want to move back BTW...never thought I would while I was there, but I do....it's a really fun place (South LA) and the people are very friendly, especially in Lafaytette....nice town to check out....
