Just diagnosed with HEPATITUS C..advice needed!

I just got diagnosed with HEP C. I am only 20 and coudlnt of had it for over a year. How is this going to effect my training? Will I be experiencing any symptoms or will it be causing any problems with my training until many years down the road? I dont know what to think. I am going crazy! This isnt a joke. I feel like a disease bag waste. Is this going to interfear with my life and training? Is it that huge of a deal? I am an emotional wreck! I cant stop crying, I feel like this is going to change everything about my life. Someone knowldegable please try to answer my questions. I tried getting them out of my family doc but she was idiotic and I wont be able to see a specialist for 2 weeks. Thoughts keep racing threw my head and I dont know what to do with myself. I feel as if I just lost everthing. all the problems I have had and now this!

Sorry to hear the news. Just take things easy for now. Take a break from training and be with friends and family. If you can't see a specialist for 2 weeks, take 2 weeks off to rest up and fully understand what's going on with your body. I feel for you bro and I'm sorry to hear the bad news. But you got your bro's on AR to help you out.

Do you know how you contracted the Hep-C bro? And I understand how emotional something like this can be, it is a big deal and it will require you changing some things in your life. But you can still train hard, and live a good life. The healthier your mind, body and soul are the stronger you'll be. You'll be aight brotha.

Got Hep when I was 20yrs old,43 now and still kickin'.You will have to give up booze the rest of your life,but other than that it goes dormant,and unless you agreviate it you'll be fine.Do keep in mind it will be with you the rest of your life.It does suck when it first comes on,I know how you feel,was in hospital 3 days and after that,nothing strenous for 1 mos.I do oral AS and have no problem,just keep your liver D-toxed ed you'll be fine and enjoy a nice long like.All the best...DB

My friend got hep c from a bad tattoo artist using dirty needles when he was 19 i think. Now he's 25, he's healthy, has regular checkups with his doctor and is training harder than ever. He quit booze, uses steroids but no orals and lives a perfectly normal life.

I have a cousin with it and his doctor is trying to kill the virus completely with interferon or so he says. I guess some cases of Hep C can be virus killed with interferon so they are trying it.

I'm sorry to hear about that bro. My dad has it and unfortuanately hasn't stopped drinking and he is in pretty good shape. I AM IN NO WAY CONDONING THIS. Stay disciplined and you won't even know its there.

I have Hep C bro, from my young dumb shooting crap days. I have had it for over 5 yrs now and i am as healthy as an ox. When i was in penn i knew a guy who had it for over 25 yrs and it never messed with him. I consider myself one of the fortunate ones, just take care of yourself.

There is a treatment out there for Hep c that's supposed to supress it if it's active, i forget what it's called i dont' take medication, but in some people it reduces it so much the you can test negative for hep c, that's not to say that the virus is still not in your system, just means test can't detect it.

Hep-C can live for 6-7 days out of the body in dry blood

No problem at all. First of all my g/f is negative. The best thing you can do for yourself and for your partner, is educate yourself about your disease.

Alot of people might be sorta stand offish toward you. Don't be offended, because they are ignorant to the disease. You can educate them. Tell them that they can not contract the virus by drinking after you, eating after you, kissing you, etc. The only way to contract the disease is by being exposed to it through a cut or something like that. Your doc will tell you that there is a chance that a sex partner could contract the disease, but this is a very very slim chance. I have been with my girl for going on 3 yrs now, and she's still negative.

They way i went about telling my lady was not the right way. I was with her for a month before coming out with it. I first told her i was sorry because i have not been upfront with her about my health. She asked me, " Mike what are you talking about." So i told her, "Sara I have hep-c and im sorry for not telling you, but the doc told me that there was rare chance that i could infect anybody through sex."

This was obviously a fucked up thing for me to do, but it's all good now. I often wonder how i would go about telling my next girlfriend that i have hep-c, that is of course assuming that me and my lady broke up.

Here's a little something though about "extra" strain putting havoc on the liver. Everything in our daily lives puts havoc on our liver, from the medicines we take to the air we breath.

And since sex could be considered a workout, wouldn't that help boost your white blood cell count thus help fight any and all diseses in your body? I have not been sick for going on 4 yrs now and im not saying it's because i fuck alot, but just trying to illustrate that most people with Hep-c can live a normal everyday life.

About the sickness. I think the sickest i have been these past 4 yrs is minor head colds here and there.

I have hep c. I was diagnosed 6 yrs ago. I am 40 yrs old . I stopped training and focused on bringing my count down to zero, I went through 2 treatments, one was the interfron injections with the riboviron pill form. This treatment kicked my ass and I was up all night and back in bed everyday at 5:00pm after work. It was hell and I quit after 3 months of a 1 year program. I waited for this new drug Called Pegusus to come out last year. It is time released. it worked with half of the side effects ! I am at zero count now ! remember !!!!! No alcohol or any toxic substance in the blood streaM UNTIL YOU ARE AT ZERO COUNT ! I am not active but it still lies dormant. if you enter toxins into your body it can return. I am going to start my cycle back up for 10 weeks this month. I will let you know. You have to really watch your blood count. If levels increase then you must stop ! 1 st symptoms are a low grade fever ! It is a risk ! The liver is the filter Bro ! Clog it and you will have toxins floating in your blood stream that could cause cancer.

I am no expert but from the research I have done it seems to me that Hep's are fairly hard to contract from sexual intercourse. Even with HIV, just becuase you have sex with someone postivie doesnt mean you will contract it. That stuff is fairly hard to contract. From the information I have read most people contract Hep from Tattoo's. I read an article once where as high as 50 percent of people that get Tattoo's become infected. So if anyone is getting a tattoo anytime soon, make sure you watch him put in a clean needle. Hope everything works out bro.

My dad has hep C and from the research I have done only in 50% of the cases do you actually see any sign or symptoms. In less than 10% of followed cases do serious problems arise. Like DB said no drinking, take liver detox supps and get regular checkups. I read in a medical journal that it is possible there will be a cure for hep c in the next ten years. Bor I was diagnosed with toxic hep in '84 then they called it non a non b hep in 93 I did a interferon treatment in 94 was a non responder. Then in 2000 did the combo treatment of interferon and riboviron took my count down to 0. There's life with hep c, I got married with hep c so it's not the end of your life. You'll just have to make some adjuctments. I'm on HRT and lipitor which is supposed to be hard on the liver. All my blood work show that it's not effecting my liver.

You'll be ok Bro just do what the Dr says. You can keep training but I wouldn't recomend a high protein diet right now, drink lots of water and add ALA, milk thistle and some Liv.52 to your list of supplements if you take any.

There is hope !! I completed my pegussus treatment last year and have been at 0 count for hep c ever since. i also completed my cycle last month and all is well with the old liver. Count is still at zero. Advise to the the intial poster.......start pegussus treatment right away. It has a 85% cure rate.!
