Thread: Meal timing before bed.........

    Meal timing before bed.........

How many bros eat within 10 minutes of sleeping? Either pro/fats or pro/carbs? My 2nd to last meal is my dext/whey shake and can't get in another meal until I'm literally in bed (1.5hrs later)........I always have had another shake of pro/fats like muscle milk or casein and peanuts. What do you do? Anyone wake up in the middle of the night and eat? Last facet of this game that really has me baffeled.....bedtime and calorie storage has me confused. Thanks.

I just take 5 scoops of whey and 1.5Tbsp Flax about 10 minutes before bed.

The timing varies for me dramatically because I don't always go right to sleep after the shake.

Every night, regardless of when I ate last, or what time it is, I just simply have this shake before I go to bed.

Sometimes I wake up hungry at 2am or so - if I do I'll eat Fat Free Cottage Cheese.

Wouldn't a pro/carb meal be smart? keeping your blood suger up would keep you anabolic after the workout. but that's all IMO. but i would definately eat whole foods before bed, no shakes, it'll be stored too quickly as tai said.

no when u sleep u go into more of a liplytic state (fat burning) since the activity is not "INTENSE" thus you want to take a meal that will encourage this effect sparing glycogen and protein for future events.

hense forth a profat meal w/ 40% cals from fat 60%cals from protein

i thought whey would digest waaaay too fast so it wasn't a good idea before bed, and that the flax being in liquid form wouldn't do much with slowing digestion?...

    See what I mean............now everyone says pro/fat.

Last poll.............just put yourself in my shoes. You train in the evening. you have your pro/carb shake (im using oats, whey and skim), by the time all is said and done, its time to crash. Time elaspesed has been roughly 1.5 -2 hrs. Do you have nothing? Pro/fat? or pro carbs? I'm leaning towards a pro/fats shake

    5 scoops = 50 grams

I don't believe that 50g will be stored as fat.

My workouts are at night as well - around 6pm most days.

Even if it's not stored as fat. The amino's will be so rapidly absorbed that they won't have even the slightest of chances to be used. They will be quickly converted to glucose or excreted as nitrogen. The only time a Whey shake should ever be used is with a solid meal or PWO.

How much protein can the average person handle without it being stored as fat? I haven't heard of protein being stored as fat ever before.

Its not that really, its the fact that you are using Whey which is so quickly digesting, that is almost rendered useless after you drink it.

IMO Muscle Milk should never be used, has way too many fats and carbs. I do realize that some of the fats are MCT's but I'd rather not use it at all.

ohhh mann it's the best tasteing protein of alll time the rest i have to add peanut butter or ice cream lol

  31. #31
use it...I was 100% against it too, but I had to try....now on my thrid tub. Mass gains have been nice, weight is slowly climbing and bf actually dropped it's MCTs)....only thing I've changed in my diet was that addition, I'm sold!

btw - carbs are quite low, as is the sugar!
