i heard that an insulin spike during workout inhibits the full GH release that occurs during training...based on that i would say no, but that is just my $.02 off of what i've been told.

go w/ oats and whey about an hour to an hour'n'half before lifting
or even pro'fat meal 2hrs before *which is my fav)(
since whey and malto burn through you very quickly...you are going to end up peaking in the middle of your workout, then crashing towards the end. I would have a regular pro/carb meal 30-60mins prior to your workout. if convenience is an issue...try tai's whey/oats suggestion...at least you'll have sustained energy from the oats.
