Sleep and gains is there really a relation?

alrite well...i kno that there is a direct relation ship with sleep and muscle gains. i usually manage to get 6-5hrs of sleep a nite, its not that i stay up late cause im busy i just dont fall asleep. so im thinking i should take sleeping pills, but will this have a negative effect or have a bad reaction with the juice? brand is Unisom active ingredient is Doxylamine succinate 25mg.

also, i have juss started the juice ive been taking 250mg of test cyp a week im on week 4 now, and i havent really felt any stregnth increase. ive been getting less sore but that could be from the amount of proteins and vitiman and my pre-workout(Hyper Shock) but my friends who has done only 3 weeks of the same stuff and amount has gotten major increase. so my question is, i kno it says effects wont be seen till week 4-5, but he is gettin them and im not, i diet better but he gets more sleep. so is that the answer or is it simply...juice has differnt effects on different ppl?

You should get at least 8. More on cycle and/or when training heavy.

Alot of it is sleep consistency. You need a schedule even if its not exactly 8 hours just be consistent.

majority rules, minimum 8 hours of sleep. as far as the sleep pills, don't know about unisom, but there are plenty of natural alternatives that unquestionably won't interfere with your gear. first thing to try is the basics: some warm milk (skim-2%at most) right before trying to sleep. that doesn't work, aromatherapy. go to bath n body works and get their lavender vanilla pillow mist. the scent naturally calms the body and can help knock you out. if neither of those work, try melatonin.

worst case scenario, get a sleep-aid with the active ingredient diphenhydramine hcl. i'd recommend trying the others first. for most people, warm milk will do the trick.

don't kid yourself into thinking since your bodies used to 5-6hrs of sleep that it's ok. your body needs a minimum amount of time to recuperate, and 8 hours should be the min. any more than 9 though and there are actually toxins that build up in your system from being sedentary for so long. that's why when people "oversleep" for too long, they wake up even more tired than when they went to sleep. so try to keep it between min 7 1/2 and max 9 1/2. remember, your muscles grow from your workouts at rest!

I never get more than 5 hours a night but I try to catch a 25 minute nap sometime in the late afternoon. I think if you can get more sleep it would be good for you but most of the BB's I know have trouble sleeping for that long with all the drugs they are doing.

For starters id up the dose, with 250mg a week dont expect much. Also how many Cals are you taking in a day?

i've done some pretty hefty cycles in my day, and i can tell ya the stuff i mentioned above works. if nothing else did, taking one or two of the diphenhydramine hcl sleep-aid pills would knock me right out. one thing to remember though, most gear does reduce your sleep requirements to a small extent, sorry but i didn't mention that in my last post. on large amounts of gear, you might be able to shave an hour or so off your sleep requirements. if you truly feel well rested after each night and can function perfectly fine without getting groggy at all during your day, i guess do what you gotta do, but i'd still recommend my last post.

Read an article last year.. some study they came to the conclussion that the human body would be better off having 2 four hour sleep sessions versus 1 eight hour session...but ofcourse this doesnt fit most of our schedules.

i agree with you "pooks". studies have shown 2 - 4 hour rest periods a day are better. as long as it's 8 hours total and each sleep session is a min. of 2 hours (to reach rem sleep, etc), it's all good. break it up however you'd like. i'm assuming this should work just the same whether or not you're geared up. if you need to break it up though, not only is it ok, but you might even be better off! good call "pooks".
