What kind of whey protein and weight gainer is best for $?

Been looking around at whey proteins and weight gainers, and they're so hard to sort with how many companies are out there. Basically looking for a brand with good flavors, 100% whey protein as far as the protein and a decent quality gainer as well, and at a reasonable price. I see some comanies with flavors that sound great, but then they want $60 for a 2lb container of whey. I'm just looking for something in-between affordability and quality as far as protein AND taste.

Right now, I use gnc's weight gainers, but the stuff doesn't taste that great and the carbs in it are so hard to digest they give me horrible gas unless i take it with a bunch of digestive enzymes. The thing that's great though is I can get them real cheap when gnc has their discount deals, and I have yet to find something else comparable to it that's a reasonable price.

As far as whey protein, i usually get something from vitamin world. again, they have pretty good prices, but most of it doesn't taste that great. their ones that do look like they'd taste good on their shelves is literally quadruple (or more) the price of what i pay for the generic stuff.

i've looked around at websites for stuff, but a lot of the websites don't have all the nutritional info on the products, which i don't see how they sell their products without. many of the sites are also very hard to navigate and things are very scattered. anyway, if anyone knows of any particular products or a site that has good comparison line-ups of products, i'd really appreciate it. thanks.

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard and Dymatize (swole's sponsor) are the two i use. they are whey protein. i don't use weight gainers because i eat enough food to do me in.

thanks for the info, i'll check them out. i use the weight gainer only after my workout for some fast-absorbing nutrition. with it's high maltodextrin content, that's about the only time i'd take it in.

all right, did the research, and here's what i decided...

went with dymatize over ON for my whey protein because dymatize has far more flavors and a much more impressive amino acid profile gram per gram.

as far as gainers, "up your mass" is a horrible choice for post workout. their main protein source in it is soy, far inferior to whey, and it also has a lot of casein protein, which is very slow digesting and can cause bloat. though their carb content is of a higher quality than most, their protein isn't. plus, their carbs all seem to be complex which are very low GI, which again for post-workout, is not good.

cytogainer and universal real gains were my last two choices as far as gainers. universal had a disadvantage because of the fact it has casein protein in it as well. other than that, the two seemed pretty comparable. the biggest problem i have with them though is they both have sucralose in it, which is basically sucrose. do your research and you'll find this to be a highly toxic man-made chemical, and there is no excuse to using it because there are far safer alternatives out there (ex. stevia which is used by designer whey).

anyway, ended up going with cytogainer. so far, no complaints other than the added sucralose, except that it doesn't have digestive enzymes in it. but, guess you can't have everything.

yeah dude i didn't use weight gainer at all when the first time i bulk during winter.
i ate A LOT of oatmeal because i love them so much. plus it saves me $. or you can just make your own, mix oats with protein adn voila you got yourself a homemade weight gainer. and also i used dymatize cuz it's so damn good lol.

i know most of you like ON, but read my previous post guys!!! last time i'm going to tell you this, you can confirm the validity of it yourselves:

Dymatize has a more diverse amino acid profile than ON. Additionally, Dymatize has more protein gram per gram in comparison to ON. Last, Dymatizes protein (proportionately) is comprised of a higher grade than ON.

Now, that on top of the fact that dymatize has far more flavors to choose from, why still choose your ON over dymatize? I simply don't get why so many people are hooked on ON when there is obviously a better choice here?
