    Is sleeping normal?

OKay maybe not sleeping itself but something weird happens anytime I take in carbs and no protein I fall asleep.

Let me 'splain better. Today is "cheat day" so I have a bowl of Raisin Bran cereal and not 10 minutes after eating it I am fast asleep for like 2 hours.

This happens anytime I have simple or complex carbs and no protein with it.

    Does this mean anything?

    thanks

Maybe a silly question but is it good that this happens? What I mean does this indicate good insulin response? (if that makes sense).

I do know one thing is I have to watch it as I have fallen asleep in the middle of working sometimes.

Pasta does the exact same thing to me unless I eat a bunch of meat with it.

    thanks SC

It means you have good insulin sensitivity, yes.

Yeah me too. I know if I eat a good amount of carbs I get pretty tired awhile after. I got a friend that has to fight to stay awake 30-45mins after his whey/dext shake

IT means you shouldn't have carbs without protein

I believe the specific reaction is a release of serotonin.

Large carb-containing meals... (carb-only meals also) induce a mass release of serotonin... Which relaxes you: making you sleepy

Insulin also factors in... It's related to serotonin-release.

    Long explanation.

Bottomline: yea you're normal... Additionally tho you shouldn't be consuming carb-only meals generally speaking

I love ya Nark You started my morning on a good note. hahahaha.

I normally do not consume meals like this but every once in a while I end up grabbing one and it seems to knock me out.

If you were taking exogenous slin, it wouldn't matter since you are introducing slin into your body in a matter other than a natural rise/response.
