    Wax on Wax off

Im thinking about getting my chest and abs wax. I don't have alot of chest hair but Im looking for that smooth look. I've tried nair and shaving but after a couple of days when the hair starts to grow back I itch alot. My question is how long does it take for your hair to grow back after waxing and also did anyone see the episode of BullShit with Penn and Teller where they showed 2 guys and a girl getting waxed, that looked so painful, I felt so sorry for that girl.

Yeah that looked painful, I was shocked to find out that all of that was real, like he had him self waxed by a actress who could really wax.

Waxing can last up to 4 weeks - depends on the individual and the results are fantastic.

I've had my chest both waxed and lasered. Unfortunately the laser I had it done with, the IPL, is archeic, and isn't as good as the newer ones currently out.

Results with waxing, IMO depend on the sensitivity of your skin and if your hair is thick. You said you don't have a lot of hair, so that would lead me to believe that your chest hair isn't that thick, (sometimes there's an exception so I'm asking just in case), so if your chest hair isn't thick, like Mizfit said, depends on the individual, but i'd say 3-5 weeks is an the avg.

I have pretty thick chest hair, (not like Steve Carrel in 40 yr old virgin, prob. half or 40% of his thickness, but the hair covers my entire chest), and a good bit of it. Unfortunately for me, my skin is very sensitive,.....that's why I got the laser done. My chest broke out for about three weeks after I had it waxed, and then I probably had about two weeks of clear unblemished and hair free skin.

It definatly isn't the best feeling though. Fairly intense. I had back, stomach, and chest done. Back isn't that bad, chest, (especially for me around the throat area), can be intense, as well as stomach, (especially for me the surrounding area by the navel).

If you have the money to spend I would recommend laser. I had it done to my shoulders,....my chest hair flows up into my shoulder area, ...its not thick, but the hair is definatly coarse, ....it lasted probably about 6 weeks, .....where as shaving that area lasts a day, if that. I've only had one treatment, I'm saving up for another b/c of the cost.....$175. The hair is definatly less coarse and is taking longer to grow in after my initial treatment, I'm guessing 4-5 treatments and I should be more or less permantly done with that area.

I've never heard of anyone bleeding,......well except for me, haha. But again my skin is extremely sensitive, and it wasn't that bad, just a few very fine drops, and it only happened once.

If your skin isn't sensitive you should be ok. It's sort of hard to tell though how you're going to react until you get it done, some people get ingrown hairs, some people break out, (like me), and some people are totally fine.

I would recommend talking to whomever is going to do it, and getting a test patch done, pick what would seem to be the areas that could be most sensitive, usually on the chest it is the less meaty areas for most,....so usually upper chest,.....for stomach, for me it was around the navel........but I guess it could be different with different people. I would do the test patch, and see how your body reacts, by the third - fifth day I would guestimate that you'll know whether your going to breaking out, having in grown hairs, etc.

I'm sure you'll be fine, I'm like the worst case sceario with everything, haha. My body is just retardid when it comes to things, things that most people are fine with, my body reacts differently, so thats why I'm throwing out the what if's .........just in case,.......worst possible scenario..........but like I said most are fine with it. The only problems I hear of with waxing that are common are with girls bikini lines, (knew a girl that did a lot of waxing at a salon).
