My birthday gift . . . from myself!

Well, for the 3rd year in a row I'm buying myself a car for my birthday. Here is this year's selection. What do y'all think?

I hear you, but I wanted an SUV and what's a unique SUV? The escalade was out. The Cayenne was not really my style. The X5 and ML are garbage IMHO and the Denali, Suburban, etc. are just too "good-ol' boy" for me, but you're right, it is a little cliche.

Great choice & a cool ride, I have a yellow H2 SUV. I love it & is a great fit for everything I do as a daily driver. My weekend cars is a red convt 04 Dodge Viper SRT-10 (500hp). Its's a "great" contrast that makes me apprieate them each for what they are (love this one too). And if the "car gods" are listening, I want one of the new Challengers & new Camaros (with the 500hp motor option if offered).

What did you get the other 2 yrs & do you still have them???

Funny you should ask. Last year, I got a 2002 RT/10 Slate Grey/Cognac. The Gen III's are nice, but I just liked the Gen II and I wanted that grey which they're just bringing back now.

The year before I got an X5 4.4 which lasted about a year before I got sick of all the little electronic malfunctions.

H1's are sick, but I plan on driving this car about 10K per year and as big and impractical as the H2 is, the H1 is the poster-boy for big impracticality, but I would get one someday as a collectible since they're going to stop making them this year.

    my choice:
    G55 AMG
Range rover s/c (normal size or sport)
BMW X5 4.8 (these are ok)
H1 turbo diesel...send to bullydog and get over 1,000 ft. lbs. torque
    Turbo cayenne (520 hp.....)
no flame but I personally like power.

The average price of those is about $90K or so, right? Well, more or less.

The H2 cost me $45k. all good choices, though.

Oh and the Range Rovers have had major engine computer problems ever since switching from BMW to Jag engines. 2nd from the bottom in initial quality.

I like it bro....but get 24s for it please...also if you wanna be more original you get an 07 Range Rover with white leather and black piping then put it on 24s....you do not see a lot of Range Rovers around as much as you do H2s, mainly because there 20-30k more than the H2s and in my opinion way more unique. However, I like the truck none the less but definately think its gonna need rims...either that or sky the bitch...

This doesnt suprise me. I had an LS which had the 3.8L V8 Jag engine in it and it was a total piece of garbage. Those engines use coil packs which CONSTANTLY go bad causing misfires only sometimes the O**II doesnt pick them up so you have intermittent misfires and its hard to pinpoint which cylinder its coming from. This leaves you replacing $25/piece coil packs..its a bitch....wasnt aware of that in any case, Range Rover good vehicle, but with a Jag engine not so good I can see why you picked the H2...

GenII's are nice. I had a 97 GenII GTS coupe Blue with White stripe, awesome car. Just got tired of it & wanted the SRT10. I like the new Blue & White coupe or the Yellow/Black, so I might change out the red for one of these soon. I'll have more options later as I'm building a 17x60ft garage with 2 lifts in the back so, it can hold 5 cars along with 3 in the main garage. Kind of like a dream car garage, I just don't know if I'll ever fill them up, but it'll be FUN trying

Anyway, so far we have about the same taste in cars, we were close (99%) to getting the X5, but my wife decided on the LX470 instead.

I'm not sure if your talking about putting NOS in his hummer, but one of the guys in our Viper club specializes in doing mods to vipers. His 98 GenII GTS has NOS with intercooled supercharger putting out 1100HP. For him its mostly advertisement & brag rights since without suspension, etc it can never really hook up. Another one in the club has a basic supercharger(intercooled) that puts out near 750hp. I took a ride in this...it was Crazy fast!!!!!!!!

On another note, we hear that Dodge is going to up the factory HP from 500 to 650 to put them back well above Corvettes 500, though we've heard rumors that Corvette is looking at factory supercharging the Z06 (to be a Z07) with 650HP. It looks like the HP wars are on again.
